This was just something I did from a writing prompt on www.creativewritingprompts.com. Begin a story with "the clock winked".

The clock winked. “Time for school.”

“Oh. Right.”

“Aren’t I coming?”

“Why would I take you?”

“I don’t suppose you’ll be leaving your watch at home for me to talk to?”

“I need it. You know, at school?”

“I do the job better than that digital thing. You’ve set it too late, you see.”

“It’s you that’s early. Seriously, who takes their clock to school?”

“Well, nobody, which is clearly who the clocks there have such terrible social skills. Don’t even respond to you.”

“In case you haven’t noticed, clocks don’t usually, um, talk.”

“You insult me!”

“Well, they don’t. You look like a school clock, though. What if I got you mixed up?”
“I’m the only one that talks. You just said it yourself.”

“You just told me the clocks at school have bad social skills, which suggests other clocks you’ve met have good social skills, which suggests that you’ve met other clocks that—”

“Denny, get downstairs now. And stop talking on your mobile before you’re late to school!”

“Fine, you can come, just don’t do any chattering during class time, okay. You know when that is, right?”

“Memorised your timetable the day you got it.”

“You and time.”

“It is my job, you know.”

Hi Kibble, That was good. Very Imaginative and fun to read. You must take care though to read before you submit your work.

"Well, nobody, which is clearly why the clocks there have such terrible social skills.

Good job. Keep it up

I read it while laughing. I like it. It's not ordinary - there are no descriptions, as you might have noticed :) - but it was very good, in my mind. What actually made me feel a little bit ditatched was that we don't know when they first started talking and things like that - but it botehred me only a little, and the story might just be made to be like this. Very fun read - interesting too. Keep it up :D
