Hello, my name is Rebekah. I'm 14 years old and my birthday is January 2, 1996. My friends consider me the 'booknerd' of our little group and I have no problems with being called that. :) I couldn't live without writing. Writing, much like reading, helps me escape from reality and fall into a colorful world where the possibilities are endless. I come across as shy to strangers but once I get to know you you'll be wishing for me to shut up. ;) If anybody has any questions please feel free to ask. :D

First of all, happy (belated) birthday!!! :elephant:

A fellow nerd, eh? Wonderful to meet you! *shakes hand emphatically*

Hm, questions...what genre do you write? What's your favorite book (or books)? What's your favorite movie? :D

Hello Rebekah,
I like the way your name is spelled :smt001
Very cool and unique. Ditto to the questions above, and also
What is your favorite music? Color? Food?
What would you do with one wish? (Besides wish for more wishes)
I'm guessing you saw Sherlock Holmes, so did I. Did you like it?
nice to meet you, by the way. I'm Meagan.

To Rangerhawk: Thanks. :)
It's nice to meet a fellow nerd.
Mostly fantasy. Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, and a lot of books by Agatha Christie, and one of my favorite movies is District 9.
How about yourself? :)

To empressoftheuniverse: Thanks, it gets annoying sometimes though whenever thinks your name is spelled 'Rebecca' though. :P Haha.
I like rock, some country (if I'm in the mood for it), and every once and awhile I'll be up to listening to some rap.
Green is my favorite color.
Hmm... I would wish to write a story that would change somebody's life for the better.
Oh yes, I was surprised by how good it was.
It's good to meet you Megan. :)

We nerds are cool. ;)

Sweet, same here! I saw District 9 in theaters right after I had dinner...*ugh* the part where he tries to cut his arm off made my stomach feel queasy which is weird because those types of scenes usually don't bother me, but I felt pretty sick haha.

Hey Rebekah,
my name is spelled with an a, like meagan. So I somewhat feel your pain.
Your wish was the best one I've heard yet. I want to write that kind of book as well, though I doubt I'll ever be good enough.
Nice to meet you. :smt001

To Rangerhawk: Yes we nerds are. Haha. ;)
There were some parts were the movie was kind of sick. :|
But I really enjoyed that movie though, I loved Christopher's son Oliver. He was so cute! XD

To empressoftheuniverse: I'm sure you will one day. :)
So which genre do you prefer writing?

Hi!
We have the same name :) (except my names is spelled 'Rebecca' haha). I get what you mean about writing being an escape from reality. If I didn't have it, I think I'd go crazy. Plus, stories are always way more fun to live in than the real world, especially if you get to make them up yourself :P.

Way, way back in the 1988 Presidential election, then Vice President George H W Bush had a phrase he liked to use: "A Thousand Points of Light." It refers to the idea that a community is made up of people who contribute in a thousand, different small ways, but with each helping to illuminate their community. It's a phrase I think about a lot when it comes to YWS. Looking forward, the site will continue to change and grow, but it will always remain a community dedicated to promoting creative writing as a favorite pastime.
