CHAPTER II Aballa
I hate myself! I have caused this horrible pain, in two people! Ugh! Did I always have to ruin other people's lives? First that poor boy, I had to attack him! Then Cami, it seems to be worst for her. She finally got to a point when she was somewhat happy, and then, I ruin it! I had to...
I need to calm down, I need to fix it. I can fix it. But how?
Ugh! People are so confessing! It's hard to believe I was every one of them. I'm glad I was turned into a vampire at such a young age. It's so much easier to lure pray, too. Crap, I forgot about the sun!
"Um, Cami, we might want to head inside. The sun will start to rise in a minute or two," I whispered to her, knowing she's going through an emotional brake down. She was not expecting me to care for all that much, so I acted like I didn't. Which of course, I didn't, all I wanted to do was fix the mess I made, and then I would be fine.
Was there not that little part of my brain that was dieing to know more, though? Wasn't there some part of me that felt so sorry for her, and all she had to go through, to finally be happy, then all of it be gone in a few days?
No, there was none of that. It was completely guilt.
Besides, I'm getting a head of myself. She's talking about when she was 13, how old is she now? 17, at least. For all I know, her and that Taylor guy could have been done with in a year. I might not have taken her away.
Fuck! I can't believe Cami just left me here! I knew I said we should go, but I would of though she would have waited.
Where is she, where is the one who caused all this crap!
Double fuck! Is he really going to talk to me, right now! Ugh!
"I'm over here," I said, knowing there was no way around talking to him.
Did you find her?
"I told you, when I know, you will be the first one to know," I whispered so only he could hear.
I told you just where she would be, you must have seen what she looks like in my head, and you still haven't found her?
"You're forgetting that I only have nights to work, and I still have to hunt and take care of other things as well. My life can not, and does not center around you and this girl."
It's not too late to fix everything you've messed up.
Yes it is, I wanted to say, but he was already gone. I sprinted to the house, and slept worst then most nights.
***
I woke, once more, to the sound of the grand piano in the room over from this one. Knowing that Javier played much better then that, and who the thoughts belonged to, I assumed it was Cami playing. I pushed the lid open of my coffin, wishing for more sleep, but knowing I had to dig deeper into Cami's past today.
Ugh!
I walked into the room, making as much sound as I could mange, and the music stopped. With a smile on my face, I sat by Cami, and asked, "It's Taylor that you're thinking of, is it not?"
“Yes, that was his song," she whispered, as though she was afraid someone would hear.
"Then why did you tell Javier otherwise yesterday?" I asked, truly curious for once.
"I don't really trust him. He seems to be looking for more then just answers, like something for himself." Of course, she trusts the one person whom she shouldn't! Ugh, could she make me feel worse? I was the one she couldn't trust!
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Of course, anything."
"You can read people's mind, so does that mean every vampire has a power?" she asked, looking away.
"Obviously not, you don't. But, yes Javier does," I answered her unasked question. "He can place dreams in to your head."
"Can he tell the future?" Cami questioned, catching me by surprise, which is pretty much impossible.
"No, why?" I asked.
"I had a dream, two nights ago, that we would have this conversation." My mouth dropped. The last thing I needed was for her to tell the future! I would have to stay on my toes. I did not need her to know who I truly was behind my mask.
Ugh!
"I also had a dream that the wolves will attack, tomorrow night."
“Follow me,” I whispered, walking out of the room and into another. “You must tell Javier.”
“Aballa, what are you doing in my room?” Javier asked, angry that I was interrupting his thoughts.
“Cami has, well, she has seen something,” I said, confusing him.
“Cami, darling, what’s going on?” Javier asked, no longer angry. She explained everything about the dreams, not leaving out a single detail. It was scary how accrete she was. She even knew the time that I woke up! CREEPY!
“Aballa, you know what you have to do, right?” He asked.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I?”
“Don’t leave anything out, it could be the difference between Cami and her.”
Urg! Her! She has a name, and it’s not her! I don’t get why he’s comparing Cami and Imari, they are nothing a like! It’s so stupid! There is no point in trying to group to completely different people! It’s almost as rude as calling someone her!
Aballa, take care of it, NOW! Javier yelled, in his head.
“Let’s go, Cami,” I said, harshly, pissed off at her.
