Hello! ^_^
As you see from my user name, I am Lia. And I am from Romania (please don't kill me...I didn't have a choice T_T).
Since I am here it means I am into writing. I've been doing it since I was 9 years old and I plan on doing it for a long time in the future. Here I have already published a book, called "Crimson Chocolate" and I am working my entire self between college and college (College is the killer of every spare minute I have and don't have) to get another volume out there.
I also had the pleasure of working under the supervention of an American poet and Creative Writing teacher this summer and I loved the experience of it even if my nights were sleepless from translating everything I had in English (I just managed a few chapters unfortunately).
How I found out about this society? Today while I was in the American Corner practicing for Proficiency and browsing around this big book Writers Market. I decided to see how Ellen Schreiber published and saw she was in SCBWI and searched something for older ^_^. And ended up here.
Breathes in ^_^

Wow! What an incredible story! And, already with a book published! Wow!
Anyways...

Welcome to the YWS! Home of writers and loonies!
I hope you can have a really nice fitting (I'm sure you'll).
Romania is pretty far from where I live. Although I'm in Europe. This is what I love about YWS: we can communicate with with lots of young writers from all around the world. :D

We have some basic rules, these ones are the foundation of YWS. Please, follow them as accuretly as possible.

*No chat speak and/or caps.
*Please rate your works properly. If they have any f-word and/or sexual content, rate them R and so on.
*Please, respect and keep up with our ratio. October has a 3:1 ratio, in November it'll raise to 4:1 and in December to 5:1.

That's all fro our basics. Pretty simple, right?
We have a chat, that you can check out. Only for YWS users, is very fun and you can release lot of stress there. Also, give a look to the community forums and the groups. We have everything you can imagine in the group forum. Just pick a subject you like and start chatting.

But, what about you?

Which is your favourite author and book?
Rock or Pop?
What are you studying on college?

Hope you have fun here!
Have a nice staying!

Shauni

Thank you very much! I feel good wherever there is writing and anything to read.
As for:
Which is your favourite author and book?
I don't have one that is forever and ever. Today, that book is Catching Fire (The Hunger games). Tomorrow that might be something else. Same goes for authors. I am more with fixations rather than favourites.

Rock or Pop?
Both. I can take many genres with no problems. Not so much Heavy Metal.

What are you studying on college?
I am Majoring in English-German. Here we call it the "Letters" University.

Nice! Heavy Metal is not my thing too. I constantly support the ones that have a very varied group of authors that they enjoy. The more cultured you are the best.:D
People say college years are the best ones in our life, so have a great time and enjoy it to the maximum!

Best wishes
Shauni

Hiya Lia! Welcome to YWS!

Which is your favourite author and book?
I don't have one that is forever and ever. Today, that book is Catching Fire (The Hunger games). Tomorrow that might be something else. Same goes for authors. I am more with fixations rather than favourites.

I finished that book a few weeks ago and I loved every bit of it! :D

I also had the pleasure of working under the supervention of an American poet and Creative Writing teacher this summer and I loved the experience of it even if my nights were sleepless from translating everything I had in English (I just managed a few chapters unfortunately).

That sounds like such a great experience! Oh, and don't worry if you mess up here and there since your native language obviously isn't English. A lot of people here are from other places around the world too, so go out, have fun, and make friends!

Here are the jobs on YWS:

Black- Regular members just like you! They're really the basic structure of YWS with their creative spirit and working minds. :)

Blue- These are Greeters, like Shauni and myself. We greet new members to YWS!

Purples (or Purps)- They are the Instructors, which means they give the best critiques and advice on your writing! So if you want a great review on your work, PM one of these guys!

Light Greens- Junior Moderators. They control specific forums.

Greens- Moderators. They help control all forums.

Oranges- Retired Moderators.

Reds- YWS's lovely Administrators! They are what make YWS possible, and Nate is the creator of YWS.

I got the rules basically. I am always a rule follower  that I don't know how to be rebellious.
And I also loved Catching Fire bit by bit. XD I am glad my best friend made me read it, because it was worth every night I stayed up and read between tears  .
As for:
~What do you like to do in your free time?
Usually I use my free time from college to write. But my free time from writing I use it to watch anime or read manga. Also that is where my money usually goes at the end of the day, either books or manga. And when I want to go out it is either the Tea-Shop with the bookstore in my city or the cinema. Pretty boring life I have because these free moments come very rarely.

~Any hobbies?
That would be drawing. I used to draw a lot in the past but I had to cut of my time to focus on writing when I realized that time is my enemy and I have to cut some of my activities so that could get some sleep. I used to be a choir girl but I had to cut that out too. I guess the most boring hobby I have is learning different languages apart from my native language.

~What's your writing pet peeve?
Hmmm! The fact that I am in the mood to write when I have to study the most. And when I actually have spare time my mind gets sucked of all the creative juices. Like now when I have to finish editing a book and I can't get passed the "big fight".

~Do you write in notebooks or on the computer?
Both! When I am home I use the computer. But if I am away I always carry a notebook and a writing journal with me. One for writing down scenes even maybe three quarters of the story, and one for the ideas I get.

Ooh, you're from Romania? That's awesome! One of the girls who joined when YWS was still really young was from Romania, and we had a lot of fun (granted, we were both language geeks and would swap things in our own languages and then compare the, ;)), so at least from this old YWSer, no worries!

Anyway! I hope you enjoy YWS, and feel free to send me a message if you want to chat, or need help around the site!
