Similar Names

Right now, I have a character named Liana. That isn't so bad, but her race is the Ciana. Different pronunciation, but the spelling is nearly the same.

Liana's name is said as "Lee Anna." Does that help?

Not really. I pronounce "Ciana" "See ana" so it's still almost the same.

Usually I dislike seeing names that rhyme and/or have the same first letter. The only time it can be okay is when the names are of oposite gender and don't sound the same.

I would suggest that you change the name of her race, or the spelling. I like the name Liana, but, like Rosey, I pronounce Ciana the same way.

But also, one good rule that I've read is avoiding names that rhymes or having the same first letter of their names.

So I would recommend that you change her name or her race name.

Not weird at all. You might have been interpreting it as an Italian pronunciation, where "Ci" = "Chee". eg. cappucino
