Hello Community

Hello everyone my name is Quinton Jones. I am an 18 year old senior at Hannibal High School. I am a very talented poet, and my whole creative ability enables me to create works of literature that i aspire to give inspiration through.
I major in literature, English, creative writing, short stories, and journalism.
My goal is to pursue a career in writing, poetry, journalism, and eventually becoming an author. Through my poetic ability, I strive to create relationships with people that can aid me develop my literary ability not only to ensure a potential career , but to ensure that the literary voice of young adolescences continues to live and transform into a greater potential voice of inspiration around the world.

Let me just give you a brief of the rules.

Rules

We have the 2:1 ratio, it just basically means review two other works before posting one of your own.

Please, no cursing in your reviews. You can do it in your work but please rate it if so.

Rate your work! If it has swears words, I'd do PG-13 to be on the safe side. And if it uses the "F" word or has sex scenes in it, "R" please. That way we know what were getting into.

Ack! No chat speak! It's extremely irritating! Please no lol's, omg's, or ttyl's.

DO NOT TALK IN CAPS! AnD pLeAsE dOn'T tYpE fUnNy LiKe ThIs! They make it coonfusing to read.

And the people on the site...

Orange People: The retired elders of the site, you'll see them here and there.

Red People: They are the administrators and they have complete rule over the site.
(exp. ban members, lock/delete threads)

Green People: These people are the Senior and Junior mods. Seniors or the dark green, they control and look over all the forums. Junior mods are the light green, they can look over specific area's. &

Blue people: They are the greeters, there job is to help new members learn their way around the site. You can almost always find them in the welcome form.

Purple People: They are the instructors, they give to best reviews, and can help you improve your writing because they may also offer online classes.

Black People: Just normal members like you and me.

So you're hoping to inspire others? That's great! But, out of curiosity, what inspires yourself? Is it a certain author and their works or just a sunny day?

I'd love to see your poetry, so PM me when you post it. ^_^ Just be sure to get those two critiques done first!

Simply PM one and ask for a critique that's harsh, detailed, or whatever suits you. They'll be more than happy to help.

Also, here are a few tips for getting around YWS, making writing buddies (which you mentioned are great to have), and

~Don't take reviews too seriously. We're all writers here, therefore we're trying to help each other improve. Although if your reviewer is just being straight out mean, please PM a Mod immediately and he/she will have it taken care of.

~Check out our Blogs section! Go to the big 'Blogs' button on the header and then click on 'Blog News' and you'll be able to see other young writers' blogs. You'll also be able to create your own blog if you click on 'My Blog.'

~Join a YWS group! There are many you can join, from our popular Debate group to writing ones like Double Trouble Writing Huddle.

~Don't be afraid to ask questions to your fellow writers! We're all friendly here, and are glad to help you. If a problem comes up, don't be afraid to contact a Mod. That's their job, after all.
