I haven't been writing anything new lately, so I whipped this up a few weeks ago and have been tweaking it, deciding if I should continue. Tell me what you think!
Trista curved her long, smooth fingers into a spiral and watched the front door of the duplex house swing open. She carefully flickered her eyes from her left to her right making sure that no one saw her actions. She straightened her small shoulders and walked the pathway into the house. A pine saw sent made her nose wiggle and her clear eyes squint. She could feel the air around her enclose and she knew that if she was going to live here, all the windows would remain open at all times.
The opening room contained a door in front of a staircase across from her and a big window overlooking her small front yard. She closed the oak door and let her air walks squish overtop the dark wood flooring. She crossed the empty square room to the door and opened it, this time with her hand. It was obviously the kitchen considering it’s the only other room on the first floor and it contained tile flooring. There was a siding glass door that led outside to her deck and fenced in backyard. Another door led to the garage. Trista sighed at the small space, turned on her heals and flickered the door open before walking through it. She walked up the staircase to be met to a small hallway and another window looking outside to her front yard. To her right were two doors and another one all the way at the end of the hallway. The first door was what Trista assumed would be her bedroom. It had one big window and two doors, one a walk in closet and the other a master bath. She didn’t bother to see the bath or closet and simply walked into the next room. She felt the smile spread across her glossy teeth as she new which room this would be. She automatically felt the warmth of pleasure wash through her and she left and checked to see if she was right about the last door being a bathroom, which she was.
Trista walked through the shiny grass that reflected off the bright sun to the owner of the duplex. “I’ll take it.” She smiled, feeling her insides jump with joy. She could tell the owner was ecstatic about her decision as well and handed over a contract to the rights of the home. With a quick signature and a few agreements, the owner handed over a set of keys and walked to his car, waving before driving off.
Trista jumped around and looked at the green building of two homes. The whole right side of the building was hers and it was nice to have a home instead of an apartment for once. She raced to her orange car and drove it slowly into her brand new garage. She got out and before heading into the kitchen, she grabbed a big black suitcase from the back. She walked into the front room and laid the suitcase out on the floor. With a hum of her voice and a flicker of her hands, the suitcase flew open and within minutes, her house was fully furnished. She squealed in delight and was about to throw the suitcase back in her car before remembering one thing.
“Come on, Freska.” She called out, her English accent thick. A light blue glow appeared and out jumped her white, fluffy feline with crystal blue eyes. The animal purred and rubbed her body in between Trista’s long, tan legs before meowing and heading to her empty food bowl. Trista snapped and the bowl was now overflowing with cat food, Friska’s eyes lighting up with pleasure. She chowed down as Trista flopped down on the pink, polka spotted love seat and turned on the flat screen with her index finger.
A few hours later, Trista jolted up with a startle and looked around at the rain that dripped down outside. She hated the rain. ‘It’s time to fix this…’ She hummed inside her head and flew off the couch, grabbing the knitted sweater that reached her thighs. She pulled the overly large hood up upon her light pink hair and walked out onto the wet, drowning grass. Her sneakers and leg warmers were instantly wet and Trista sighed in annoyance. ‘Rain…’. She let the glowing globes raise from her finger tips and spiral in the air. In the next few minutes while Trista waited impatiently with her hands on her hips, the rain stopped and bright rays of sun fell upon her. She smiled and walked gently back into her home.
Freska glared at her before trotting up the stairs. “Oh don’t give me that, no one saw.” Trista called after her up the stairs before throwing her coat back onto the rack that hung on the purple walls. She walked upstairs into her green moral painted bedroom and flopped down on the black satin sheets. She let her fingers tap tunes on her stomach as she thought of what to do. After whistling tunes to go along with her tapping, she sat up and walked to the three-way mirror in the corner of her bedroom. She stood in front of it and over looked herself.
Her light pink hair fell to her chest, volumized up at the top and her side bangs held to the side by a bobby pin. She leaned forward to examine her face. Her clear, breezy eyes looked more blue with the neon blue and purple eye shadow outlining them. Her nose stud glimmered like a diamond along with all the other glowing sparkles that were stained to her body’s skin. She remembered the first day she possessed the sparkles.
She was in the tenth grade and she just woke up, her hair blonde at the time. Trista was just informed of her witch-like powers the night before and when she looked in the mirror, glowing freckles covered her from head to toe. It took her mother all of first and second period to explain to her that the sparkles are apart of being immortal. Trista laughed in front of the mirror from the distant memory and then bit her lip, her lip ring stretching which made her pink lip turn white. She let go and leaned to one hip, placing a hand on her thigh and letting the other rummage her hair.
“Freska, should I change something?” She asked, knowing her companion was resting in her own bed at the foot of Trista’s. The cat got up and headed over to her master and sat down next to her in the mirror. She licked her paw, shook her head ‘no’ and then returned to her bed. Trista laughed and then crossed her arms over her chest. “I feel a change would be nice, though. Maybe moving into a new home wasn’t the clear space Julie was talking about.” After the words left her mouth, a glow appeared in Trista’s bedroom and an old lady with graying hair, a peasant skirt and buttoned up blouse appeared.
“I’m glad you answered your own question, dear.” Julie walked over to Freska and bent down to stroke her fluffy, white fur. Freska rolled on her back and smiled with her fangs.
“Well, thanks for telling me now. I could have saved myself a lot of money.” Trista laughed, sitting on the edge of her bed.
“It was for you to find out.” Julie got up, scowling at her student. Julie has been Trista’s teacher in witch craft ever since Trista found out she possessed the power. She was like her own mother and has helped her through out all her dilemmas.
“I’m sorry! You tell me for weeks I need clear space and living in the heart of an over-populated city really got me thinking that clear space meant more space. Now I’m on the outskirts of town and I’m still unhappy.” Trista pouted, swinging her feet that dangled lightly.
“I tell you nothing. I only tell you what you want to hear.” Julie sat down next to her good friend, taking some of her pink hair and twisting it between her old fingers. “Dear, maybe it’s time for you to go into the spell book.” Julie winked and faded into nothing. Trista shrugged and got up and walked into the room next to her bedroom.
The vintage blue walls welcomed her in and there in center of the room was her pale blue cauldron and next to it along with a few plants was her white marble pedestal that held her Greek book of spells. She flipped open the book to the blue Greek writings and began reading, deciding what she would do today.
