Lost Adventures
The sun was setting fast and I was lost. I stood stock still in the middle of the woods, something usually so familiar, completely different. I wasn't sure if it was just me, but as the sun sunk farther and farther into the horizon, the woods were getting more and more creepy; more foreboding.
I groaned. "So not cool... I guess this is what you get, huh, Analise, for wanting to be all amazing and dramatic!" I threw my hands up in the air, congratulating myself myself on my stupid mistake.
Note to self: Next time, cut the drama.
I licked my lips and bit it anxiously, looking up to the darkening sky through the dense trees. At this pace, it was going to get dark in a few minutes.
Knowing I wasn't going to find my way back home tonight, I started walking again, searching for a place to stay. I walked for about five minutes when I saw a canopy of sorts; the perfect place to say.
There was a huge stump, probably close to three hundred feet in diameter and about ten feet high. Leaning up against the stump was a a tree, about the same width as the stump, a clump of leaves, branches and vines twirled around the trunk, making a nice roof.
I grinned and ran over to it. As soon as I stepped under, it started raining out of no where.
Sighing and closing my eyes, I thanked the gods for my enormous amount of luck. If this had been a book, it would've started raining right on me, I thought. Shivering slightly, I went over and sat back against the stump, and laid my head back. With the steady beat of the rain on the canopy roof and my jacket wrapped around me tightly, I soon fell into a nice slumber.

I looked at myself in the mirror, completely satisfied. I looked perfect. My shoulder length blonde hair, normally wavy, was now straight. Instead of my usual glasses, I put in my contacts, something I've lately been too lazy to put in. I wore my favorite jeans and a form fitting orange and purple shirt, with a small orange jacket.
I picked up my cell phone and ran into the kitchen, excited. My boyfriend, Casey, was coming over tonight to hang out, watch movies, cuddle, make out... I bit my lip excitedly and put on some water for some soup. Cheddar Brocolli Soup was on the menu for tonight; both of our favorites.
It was almost done and my cell vibrated. I checked the Caller ID--It was Casey. "Hello?" I answered.
"Hey, baby."
I almost gasped. That was Casey!? How? He sounded horrible!
"I don't think I can come over--"
"No, don't worry about it, Case. Stay home, get some rest. You sound horrible! What happened?"
His chuckle sounded like sandpaper against a chalkboard, making me wince. "Just a cold."
"Casey, maybe you should go to the doctor..."
"No, I'm good. Just a simple cold. That's all. But I just wanted to let you know that I can't come today..."
"Oh, yeah, don't worry about it," I said. "We can take a rain check."
I could almost see him smiling. "Okay, Analise. We'll take a rain check. Talk to you later."
"Bye-bye."
By the time we hung up, the soup was already done. I put some for myself in a bowl and sat at the counter, eating it slowly. I hope Casey's okay, I thought. Maybe... if I brought him some soup! My mind made up, I quickly finished mine and put a portion of the rest of the soup in a bowl. I fastened the lid tightly and got in my car, heading towards Casey's place.
When I got there, I went around back to his room as I usually did, and knocked on the window, humming to myself. He didn't answer. Curious as to what was taking him so long, I peeked through the half open curtains and saw--
Him and my best friend Amber swapping spit on his bed.
I banged on the window angrily. How dare they! Amber... my best friend and Casey, my... boyfriend! Going behind my back! That was the one rule you never, ever, ever broke! Best friend's boyfriends are off limits!
They both jumped and looked over to me, panic on their faces. "How could you!" I shrieked. "How could you both do this to me?"
Amber sat on his bed, shocked. Casey sprung up. "Analise--"
"No! I don't want to hear it!" I threw the bowl of soup on the ground and stalked off towards the woods in his backyard.
"Analise, come on!" He said, following me. "Let me explain! Please!"
I whirled around to face him as he got closer. "Explain? Explain what? That you, my boyfriend was cheating on me with my best friend! What is there to explain, Casey?"
He opened his mouth to reply, and then closed it.
"That's what I thought," I said coldly, fighting to keep control of my emotions. A block in my throat made it hard not to cry, not to scream. I turned back around, still headed for the woods.
"Analise!" It was Amber.
I stopped but didn't turn around.
"I'm sorry, Analise. I didn't mean to."
I bit my tongue to keep from saying 'it's okay, I forgive you'. I didn't want to fight, but... my boyfriend. My best friend. Both betrayed me; betrayed my trust. "Don't worry about it," I said instead. "You two deserve each other." And I bolted into the woods.

"Come and see, a world you've never seen... what path you take will take you to a world you've never seen... Which cave will you explore? Maybe one or two or four... come and see, a world you've never seen..."
I jumped awake, startled. Emotions flooded back into me as I rememberd my dream. I had worked so hard to try and forget... to try and make it a simple nothing, but then I just had to go back and dream what had happened...
"Come and see, a world you've never seen... what path you take will take you to a world you've never seen... Which cave will you explore? Maybe one or two or four... come and see, a world you've never seen..."
What the...? The voice that sung it was soft and smooth, making the song sound like a lullaby, even though it seemed those were the only lines to the song. But what was it talking about? Some sort of cave? And... who was singing it?
Curious, I got up and started looking about underneath the canopy for the source of the song. It certainly wasn't outside in the steady rain. The rain would've drowned out the sound had it been outside. So that meant it had to be in the canopy. But where?
I listened carefully and followed the sound to a corner of the canopy. It got slightly louder as I got closer.
"Come and see, a world you've never seen... what path you take will take you to a world you've never seen... Which cave will you explore? Maybe one or two or four... come and see, a world you've never seen..."
I pushed back some leaves against the stump toward the ground and saw a small opening, about a foot in diameter. I cocked my head to the right a bit, wondering what I was about to get myself into. Grinning, I got down onto my stomach and a cool breeze like one you would get from the ocean met my face.
I breathed in deeply, loving the smell. The song was now just a soft whisper being carried by the breeze. I wanted to know who--or what--was singing that. How they could sing it so beautifully was a wonder to me. Determined to find out, I wriggled into the hole.
I had to stay on my stomach for what seemed like the longest time, then I was able to get upon my knees, and then my feet. The tunnel got larger and larger as I went on, and, instead of getting darker, it had a nice soft glow to it--I think the walls had some sort of glow in the dark paint on them or something of the like.
Soon, the tunnel opened up to a huge cavern, with six or seven mini caves within the twisted stalagtites and stalagmites, all on different levels of the caves. There was one near the top of the cavern, which was about fifty feet high. Another was to the side of it, about twenty five feet below it. A path led to another one on the ground, leading deep into the Earth. They were different shapes, too. Some cut out in perfect circles, though most were rickety ovals.
Curiously, I walked over to them and saw the source of the bright light within the cavern. All of the mini caves held something different within them; a different adventure.
The one near the top held what appeared to be space. The one below it held cherry blossom trees and beautiful green fields. The one that led deep into the Earth appeared to go straight down; it was a deep fiery red.
Each cave held a different adventure. Which one did I want to go into?
