Its an alternative operating system. Its a good system, rarely fails. Ive never seen a computer using linux or unix crash. Its good if you have a good knowledge of computing, and programing. It has a lot of good ideas, but in the long run, its not very user friendly, nor is it very easy to use. It ranks about a 5 out of ten, just because it has a lot of really really good ideas, but none so far, have been executed in an effective manner.
On the plus side, its free. You never have to pay for linux, its an open source system, which means updates are always available by people who want to make the system better. Its always trustworthy, and has some nice features.
