My sister and I came up with the character of Squashy last night and thought him so much fun that we had to do something with him, and so here a prologue is. As of now, there are no plans to continue the story, but one can always hope. :P

You can listen to me read this prologue (to pictures!) here: Squashy the Squasher

Squashy the Squasher

Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom in a faraway land, a very special boy was born to two unsuspecting parents. From an early age, he distinguished himself with his unparalleled ability to flatten anything. When the day of his naming dawned, his parents, after much debate, bestowed upon the boy as name the first word he had ever uttered. And that word was, “Squashy!”
As the boy grew to a man, his skill at compacting things improved as well until it was believed that there was nothing in the world that he could not pancake. When he finally reached manhood, Squashy set out on a journey through the faraway lands to fulfill his destiny.
Unfortunately, this tale is not about Squashy. It is instead about a particular hero by the name of Drayd Emonskul, mercenary salesman extraordinaire, whose party Squashy is but a minor member of.

I can tell that was meant to be funny and... It was! XD I snorted a couple of times.

Wait what whuh? They named him when he first spoke? Poor baby had no name for ages!

Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, (comma) in a faraway land, a very special boy was born to two unsuspecting parents. From an early age, he distinguished himself with his unparalleled ability to flatten anything. (This made me laugh). When the day of his naming dawned, his parents, after much debate, bestowed upon the boy, as a name, (you tripped up a bit here) the first word he had ever uttered. And that word was:
“Squashy!”

As the boy grew to a man, his skill at compacting things improved as well, (comma) until it was believed that there was nothing in the world that he could not pancake (again, I laughed). When he finally reached manhood, Squashy set out on a journey through the faraway lands to fulfill his destiny.

Read that through for my edits. Now I don't like the end cos it's like... trying too hard to be funny and makes the rest un-funny. And we like Squashy. XD

Wait what whuh? They named him when he first spoke? Poor baby had no name for ages!

Actually, he had a baby name that they called him, but they decided that Squashy should be his adult name. Apparently it's very common in other cultures to wait a while before sticking children with permanent names. Not that Squashy really benefited from this naming convention. XD

Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, (comma)

No comma. I just paused there for drama. Also because I kept flubbing that line up. XD

(you tripped up a bit here)

That was the sixth or seventh time I'd had to rerecord it because I kept tripping up everywhere, so I went "Good enough!" with this current version and went with it. XD

Now I don't like the end cos it's like... trying too hard to be funny and makes the rest un-funny. And we like Squashy. XD

XD We like Squashy, yes we do. Unfortunately for Squashy, the story, if ever written, would not be about him. You see, Squashy would be the narrator, and, as you know, narrators are often far too busy watching events and giving play-by-plays to actually participate in them all heroic-like. :P

Glad it made you laugh. I trust you enjoyed the pictures. :P
