This is an idea I've been playing with for a while:

Rosabelle looked down through the branches and leaves of the tree. A broad smile on her face as John crept around below searching. The breeze swayed the branches including the one she was standing on and blew strands of chestnut colored hair across her face. Her balance was perfect and she swayed with it. She turned and sprinted across the thin branch on her tip toes and leapt from the branch to another. In mid air she laughed and a child-like giggle carried with the wind making it impossible to tell which way it was coming from. John however looked up just in time to catch a glimpse of her lithe form leaping from one tree to the next. He ran chasing her on the ground as she raced through the trees above him. He saw her finally drop back down to the earth. He ran faster and eventually tackled her behind a rose bush. They fell, laughing, to the ground.
John was besotted to say the least. He couldn’t take his eyes off the beauty that lie beneath him as she laughed. With the sun bathing her beautiful face, she was simply radiant. She had small supple lips like those of a cherub. Her pale pink irises glistened whether they were in the sun or not. She had rosy cheeks and big wide eyes. She was so playful and possessed contagious joy. He counted her as his best friend but wanted her as so much more. When he wasn’t with her, he thought of her. When he slept, he dreamed of her. He looked down into her face and pushed the strands of her hair behind her ear. He loved the chestnut ringlets and how they moved when she did. She always had a flower in her hair whether it was just a single flower or a wreath she’d made herself. Her very scent was floral. He breathed in deeply. Today she smelled of rosewater.
“C’mon John let’s go,” Rosabelle said patting his chest. They got up and she led him through the trees to the meadow that she had created. It was her haven. There was a small pond in the middle with rainbow fish. There were flowers and small wildlife all around. The cutest white rabbit pranced over right into John’s lap and he stroked it lovingly.
“So what’s up,” he asked. She shrugged and laid back on the lush green grass. The sky was so blue and dotted with the fluffiest whitest clouds. The breeze was perfect and the sun warmed her skin beautifully. Spring was her favorite season and today was her favorite kind of day.
“Nothing really. Don’t you just love days like this though? I could stay out here forever,” she mused. John could stay out there forever too, as long as she was with him.
“Sure,” he replied glancing up at the sky and then back at her. “Do you have plans for tonight,” he asked. She looked over at him and shrugged again.
“You know I don’t make plans,” she replied. He smiled and rolled his eyes.
“Well I make plans and tonight I’ve planned for us to go the movies,” he said. She laughed and nodded her head.
“Fine by me.”
They had only been in Rosabelle’s meadow for half an hour when John’s cell phone rang. He didn’t want to answer it but he knew that it would be his mother. She wasn’t so keen with him spending all his free time with Rosabelle. He knew that she could be dangerous, but he wouldn’t believe that she was dangerous. He flipped open his cell.
“Hello,” he answered in a flat tone.
“John where are you,” his mother, Stella, asked.
“You know where I am, I told you before I left.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
“When are you coming home? You’re only 17 you shouldn’t be running around all the time like this. It’s getting late.”
“Mom it’s three in the afternoon!”
Stella sighed. “Fine,” she gave in.
Silence fell on both ends of the line. He didn't know whether she wanted to say something else or not but he hung up anyway. He tossed his phone aside and smiled apologetically at Rosabelle. She stood up and stretched. He looked up admiring her. She looked down and reached her hand out to him.
“Let’s go back to the Manor,” she said. “Suvi’s making nachos for lunch and if we don’t get there as soon as they’re done, we won’t be having any,” she told him.
He smiled and rose to his feet as the rabbit that had been in his lap raced away. John followed behind Rosabelle as she led the way to the house. He watched her ringlets bounce as she walked. Her every movement was fluid like water and airy like the wind. She always wore the lightest most delicate clothing, ethereal and billowy. Today her dress was off the shoulder and the hem fell high up on her thigh, exposing almost all of her perfectly smooth bronzed legs. She was barefoot with a gold toe ring and a golden arm bracelet around her upper arm.
The Manor was at the forest’s edge in huge clearing. It was a huge ancient Queen Anne styled house. It had a huge wooden porch that wrapped around on one side. It was three stories and while it was very beautiful it gave off a spooky vibe. No matter how many times John had been there he always paused a little upon seeing it for the first time. There were a few small children running and playing out front and they all squealed with delight upon seeing Rosabelle emerge from the trees. She swooped down and kissed them all on their dimpled cheeks. John smiled at her as he watched. He was not the only one who became enchanted around the girl. She moved on past the kids and up the flight of steps to the house and through the door. Inside The Manor the furnishings were old priceless antiques. The wooden floors were covered with huge luxurious space rugs. The windows were treated with grand tapestries. The paintings on the walls had gold frames. The furniture was all Queen Anne as well. The cabriole legs of the tables, chairs, and couches were all gold. The place had a real majestic feel. The space was well lit and always filled with people.
Suvi appeared in front of them with a huge smile on her face. She was a tall and regal woman with long flowing dark hair. She was coming up on 68th birthday and did not look a day over 20. That was the way Rosabelle’s kind was. They stopped aging at 20. She had sparkling midnight blue eyes and the warmest and most inviting smile the world had ever seen. She embraced Rosabelle and John at the same time.
“I’m glad you made it back before the food was ready. I’m sorry you missed breakfast,” she said with an apologetic smile to Rosabelle who waved it off.
“It’s fine.”
The Manor was always filled with people. Eight people really lived there but on average between 15 and 25 people were in and out on a daily basis. Suvi always cooked enough food for an army of people but you could never be sure how many people would be there come meal time so food was basically first come first serve. Suvi looked them over and shook her head.
“Go and clean up. I won’t have you two at my table dirty,” she told them.
They did as they were told. They went up to Rosabelle’s room. It was a huge wide open space behind double doors at the end of the third floor. It had a small balcony to which the doors were always kept open. The room held only a king sized canopy bed with a sheer overhead and curtains. Other than that the most dominate part of the room was a huge plush rug on the left side of the room that was under a beautiful cherry blossom tree. The room held its own bathroom and that’s where the two of them headed. They washed their hands and faces. Rosabelle always washed her feet. Shoes just weren’t her thing so the bottoms of her feet were often dirty.
“I’m starving! Aren’t you starving,” Rosabelle exclaimed. John laughed and shook his head.
“No unlike here my place is not a mad house. I had breakfast,” he said. She laughed and playfully pushed his head.
“Shut up." she said and left the bathroom with him in her wake. They went down to the dining room and picked there spot at the long table.
“What time do you have to be home,” Rosabelle asked. John shrugged.
“I wasn’t given a time. Don’t worry about my mom anyway. She’s just overprotective,” he said swinging his arm over the back of her chair.
“You know she has a right to be. I know that when you’re with other people she doesn’t care about when you come and go. They didn’t just put us here for no reason John,” Rosabelle said. He nodded but waved it off.
“I’ve been spending countless hours here since I was 14 years old and no harm as ever come to me,” John said with a playful smile.
“…yet,” interjected a deep voice from behind them. John closed his eyes and sighed heavily. Rosabelle smiled and turned to greet the addition to their party.
“Well hey there sexy,” she purred in an exaggerated tone. He came around and sat on her other side. He carefully but aggressively knocked John’s arm off the back of her chair and replaced it with his own. He kissed her neck and John gritted his teeth in mingled anger and jealousy.
Knox Roth was Rosabelle’s boyfriend. They had officially been together for five years but unofficially for eight. They had maintained an extremely close friendship since they were 10 years old but when they turned 13 they had decided to just call it what it was. They loved each other unconditionally. Always had and most likely always would. Knox was very protective of his love and would bring her the moon and stars if she asked him to. Rosabelle completely adored him and would go to any lengths to protect him. Some people were puzzled by their relationship. Knox was no angel and technically neither was she but everyone regarded her as such. They didn’t understand how they had forged a bond so strong. They were total opposites. Others completely understood. It was the age old story after all: the good girl fell for the bad boy. John and Knox had a completely different relationship. They both wished the other would just simply disappear.
As room began to fill with people, it quickly got loud and crowded. The other seats filled quickly and some sat two to a chair to make room. Knox quickly pulled Rosabelle onto his lap and her chair was quickly taken by two small kids who had wanted to sit next to her. Suvi appeared and disappeared placing plates in front of everyone at the table. Nachos were Rosabelle’s favorite food and that combined with the fact that she was starving caused her to go at her plate like an animal.
“Um I’d like some too ya know,” Knox laughed watching her devour the food.
“I’m sorry,” she replied looking at him with apologetic eyes. She lifted a tortilla chip that was loaded with meat and cheese and fed it to him. She giggled as the cheese ran down the corner of his mouth. She scooped it up with her finger and he sucked it off. John thought he was going to be sick by the very sight of them.

I know it's rough but be brutally honest!

*Okay so I changed the first paragrah taking out the repetive words the best I could and changed the way the conversation ended with John and his mother. I added one sentence about her legs and two describing Knox and John's relationship. If this editting wasn't up to par just let me know and I'll go back.

Hiya!

I'd hardly call this rough. ^_^

Description: Due to the romantic style of this work, I like a lot of the long descriptions here. They're very poetic and what give the work a dreamy, loving feel. It does get a bit long come the end of the work, so I'd watch how long you make paragraphs of description consistently, but most of it was very well done.

However, when you were describing Knox Roth, I found things to be a bit flat. You mention what he is to Rosabelle and what he is to others, but you never mention what he is to John, which would make that description much richer. It's really needed, since that relationship (I dare call it a love triangle), seems to be one of the main focuses of the story.

I also liked the slow way you're introducing what Rosabelle and her family are. Pink irises, "their kind," it gives us a little hint without telling us outright, and I don't really feel a need to know what they are. Wonderfully done. :D

Overall: I found this to be absolutely wonderful. Things just flowed, and I can see a love-struck boy feeling this. It's just beautiful!

Questions? PM me.

I do love this opening paragraph, I think it's a great way to introduce the MCs and their relasionship but I do however have a problem with how many times you used her in this sentence. I know its hard to as there are limited words or expressions you can used in its place, but having so many makes this paragraph sound repetitive and rough. For example, instead of using her in a sentence like this

"Her balance was perfect"
you could say
"The girl's balance was perfect"
This early on in the story you don't need to personalize your charcters with a name so it's fine to refer vaguely to them like this.

He ran chasing her on the ground as she ran through the trees above him.

Just change one of these rans to another word, really can't stand when people use words so repeteitivley!

My favourite paragrpah, great description. I really get an image of her appearence in my head and am already speculating about the story.

This conversation needs to be extended slightly. After the above they hang up simultaneously but if I have pecieved Stella in your story correctly then she would at least say her goodbyes or make some attempt to regain control from her son. This may not be the case but it seems a little blunt to me.

He watched her ringlets bounce as she walked. Her every movement was fluid like water and airy like the wind. She always wore the lightest most delicate clothing, ethereal and billowy. Today her dress was off the shoulder and the hem fell high up on her thigh. She was barefoot with a gold toe ring and a golden arm bracelet around her upper arm.

Again good description, but it would be better if you could make the flow a little better. Use more connectives and make your sentences relate to eachother rather than stand in seperate subjects. For instance you could describe the length or apearance of her legs after "the hem fell high up on her thigh." and slowly move down to the toes, ie. description of the calf, skin colour then move on to her feet.

Well hey there sexy,” she purred in an exaggerated tone. He came around and sat on her other side. He carefully but aggressively knocked John’s arm off the back of her chair and replaced it with his own. He kissed her neck and John gritted his teeth in mingled anger and jealousy.

The introduction of Knox totally threw me. Everything was so gracefully described and spiked with magic, then you go and introduce the stero-typically boyfriend character. I don't suspect you'll cut him out but try to rewrite Knox's introduction with some of the grace you used earlier on in the story, it is just too cliche.

I do love this story, it will be nice to see where it goes!

I loved this! I think you should continue this! I don't think it was rough at all.

I love this part, but what do you mean by her kind?

“Well hey there sexy,” she purred in an exaggerated tone.

This just stood out to me. Lol.

How is that even possible? To be unofficially together?

Always had and most likely always would. Knox was very protective of his love and would bring her the moon and stars if she asked him to. Rosabelle completely adored him and would go to any lengths to protect him.

Perfect!

She scooped it up with her finger and he sucked it off. John thought he was going to be sick by the very sight of them.

That would make me sick as well if I were John.

Thanks for all the opinions and critiques! I do plan to add chapters to this story because I think it's one of my most original ideas. I'll edit some of the things you guys mentioned. I don't really want to change too much about Knox's entrance though. Knox is not graceful at all and kind of wanted to show that in how he enters the story. Okay I'm going to edit now! :)
