Todd and Lovett (and a meat cleaver...)

So how have I improved, or un-improved or what ever you think. I just watched sweeney todd and that movie was amazing! The singing the acting and meat pies! I could have done with out all the blood but besides that I loved it! So we are inspired to draw these two pictures, the first is from "little priest" and the seccond is from the song "Pirillie's Mirical Exlier" (non of which I spelled right) and I just wanted to know what you thought!
(I also have this in lighter but my scanner made it so light that it looked almost purple, so I thought it looked kind of cool when darkened)
This one is just todd, but it looks a bit to cartoony for me.....

Nice drawings. I like the sepia look to it. It really adds mood.

First Picture:
• The womens eye, the eye on our left, is nonexistent and it looks like a hole in her face. Try maybe hinting at least at an eye even at that farness of a tilt. Other wise, she looks like she's missing an eye and has a hole in her face instead.
• Also, her dark collar/sash on our right looks too stationary. Add more shadow to make it look more like it's actually a collar/sash instead of a random square drawn onto the paper.

• The man's face looks also too flat. You've achieved an excellent nearly 3-d face for the woman, but you haven't given the man enough cheekbone.

Second Picture:
• I can't say much, I like the evenness of the head and the hair is really good.

All in all, nice work. You've really done well with these. Don't colour them in or anything, the sepia looks great.

thanks so much! Man I need to work on my knife drawing skills! Every one has thought that was her dress, it was actually a meat cleaver, a huge knife that butchers use for meat. But Sweeney is holding it up to her throat. that side of her face and his face are what I need help on, they are both so heavily shadowed in the acutal picture you cant even see that half of her face and todd's face it turned so that you can hardly see is and every thing looks tiny. Errg! Thank you though!

Thren has pointed out most of the importing things that standout most. I would repeat them over, but, eh, just listen to her. xD

Also! In the second picture, his hair is too sparse. Add detail, dearie, and fill it in. It's kind of all scribbly here now, and adding a bit more shading to his clothes would help as well. Not to mention, his face could use some shading as well. Photocopy this, if you can, and try experimenting with different types of shading and such.


Nice job; definitely 10x better than I could ever attempt to do.
