Just a something that I wrote up...hope you like it. Nothing special, just a, well, a something.
.....................
It was one of those days, the sort of winter day when the rain is so cold and the sky is so dark that everything is wrapped in an aura of gloominess. Slate gray clouds met my eyes when I looked out the window. More cold, more reason to shiver. Nothing was working. My skull felt like it had been hit in the middle with a cleaver, and my body was as sore as a bear-attack victim's.
Nothing, nothing, nothing. Nothing is working.
I held the phone up to my ear, suddenly realizing I hadn't punched in the number yet.
Cold, the world's spinning too fast, I can't get any more cold than this.
My fingers touched the rubbery buttons, I tried to remember the doctor's office number. The sticky note had to be somewhere....
My God, it is cold in here, so cold, cold, icy, but I'm burning up, 107 degrees last time I checked which was...what time is it now? And where is that stupid sticky note with the doctor's number...
Everything flew in and out of focus, my feet shuffling on the dusty, cool floorboards that I hadn't gotten up to sweep for five days. The paper with the number on it had to be somewhere! Then my fingers seemed to get a will of their own, my hands trembled violently like leaves in the icy wind on the phone buttons. A beep came from the little machine as I hit nine. My vision flew in and out of focus again as I hit one. I almost dropped it as my index finger punched one again. Wild long locks of curly brown hair scratched my ear and flew around with static electricity as I held up the phone. I thought it would slip from my fingers before it was answered. Then I heard the voice on the other end.
"Hello, what is your emergency?"
"Me-medical."
Why can't I catch my breath? Egad, the air is so thin, so chilly.
"What is your location?"
"Wha-what?"
"What is the address of your location?"
Location? Or had she said lo...locomotion? Oh, location, place...address...my address...I'm at home, I'm sick...and it is so cold.
"5712 Kimway Street, Dalton Virginia."
Why is everything so fuzzy? It looks almost like dark snow is falling around. Snow. Maybe the rain will turn to snow, it's so cold, it should already be...sn...sn...snowing...it's...it's...it's...it...
"Uuuh," I moaned, feeling the world swim from behind my fluttering eyelids, the sense of going down...
Then everything went black.
............
I was moving, I was sure of that....something sounded like gravel under feet, under wheels. Something was on my face, on my mouth, and I tried to open my mouth, but I couldn't.
Where am I? Where am I going? Why are my eyelids so heavy? God, is it ever COLD. I'm moving...moving...voices, those are voices...who are they? I can't see...see...open my eyes...I can't open them...they're so heavy.....heavy....heavy.....
..........
"Nobody move her. She may have head...t...."
Where am I now? It's so bright in here. Are my eyes open or closed? Where am I? That doesn't feel...feel...like my, my robe. My robe..my robe is velvety...that is more...that's woven cotton...not velvety...velvety...I want my velvety robe...where is my robe? Where...where am I? What is going on? I need my robe...I want my velvety, velvety....robe....
Beeep....Beeep....beeep....
What is that noise? My head feels weird...numb...tingly...I want that noise to stop...noise....noisy...beeping...
I tried to open my eyes, but they didn't want to move. My eyelids were so heavy, and the air was so cold on my face, I managed to inch them open, and a whirling mass of white and colors greeted me.
Where am I?
I began to focus on moving my fingers, making myself aware of the location of my hand. I forced my arm to move, to sweep my fingertips over my forehead where it tingled. I let it rest there for a few seconds to give my arm muscles a little break. Then I maneuvered it downwards a little, and focused my eyes intensely on the flesh-colored blob on my vision that was my hand. Why couldn't I see it clearly? What was going on? I began to panic, shaking sporadically with fear and chill.
Where am I anyway? How can I not see right? What's going on? Where...where am I!
A face swung into focus, my vision blurring rapidly in and out, in and out.
A woman in a bright pink smock brandished a clipboard as she murmured "It's okay, honey. You're in the hospital. You blacked out, and you...you may have brain damage."

I may or may not write more later, I don't know, I just wanted to write about somebody who was in a medical emergency. I like diversity in my stories, I've written all kinds of stuff. Feedback is quite welcome. Thanks for reading!
