Koumpounophobia

Just in case you were wondering Koumpounophobia means 'fear of buttons'. I read the book coraline a while ago and saw the movie on opening night. The storyline and animation was amazing! And it actually was scary, which suprised me being clay mation and all. Well it inspired me to draw the "Other Mother" she has button eyes and by the end is all wasting away and bony and out of poportion. Also her hair moves by its self so I tried to capture some of it. (just for those who have never heard of it!)
So here it is:

Wow! I like it. I loved the book Coraline, so I'm really happy to see that someone made fan art. the buttons actually look really good. I think the neck is just a tad bit too long, but you said it'd be like that. Overall, awesome.
Have you ever thought of drawing Coraline with buttons ( I know she never really got them, but I think it'd be cool, and you'd do it justice)

Ya, her neck is wicked long, but she was all stretched out and distorted by the end and I wanted to try and portray that. And Good idea, it would be practice for drawing disturbed little children. And buttons. Thanks for the review!

This drawing is pretty good!

Her face is a little out proportion though.

Her lips look a little to high on the face and
too close to the nose

Her nose looks a bit crooked

Her eyes brows are not in line with each other

The shading is very good and the drawing is
very creative

yeah, I figured you meant to make it that way. I absolutly love the buttons though! (I say they're perfect). As for practicing drawing disturbed little children? Have you ever read the Dream Peddler (I think that's the title). It has lots of twisted fairy tales, and I've noticed that not drawing one eye, and just shading over it and making the pupils really kinda wind with the one that is drawn with out much shading. Also, another manga I read (Dreamer, 1, 2, and 3) They didn't give the characters faces during flashbacks or nightmares, which definetly had the intended effect of making it creepy. But I guess that's not helpful if you only have the face. Also, if you ever draw the entire character, sometimes the shadows can be made to look uber creepy and not like what they shadow they're supposed to look like. That's what I'd say. : )

Nice work here, really! I love your art! I wish I could draw people like this xD. Anyway, let's take a look:

The buttons look a bit unround-ish. I think they need to be slightly rounder.

And, her nose kind of looks like it's going towards the left side of the screen; I think it should be like... more straight than that.

And, then, her lips! I think they need to move slightly down.

Aside from that, good job. She does look creepy, haha. Good job, Tabitha! keep it up!

hah I love it, although I'd be slightly creeped out if that was in the same house as me, do you keep it in your room? Lol, it's just the light has this way of refracting certain parts of my room at night, and you can see glimpses of things, it freaks me out The drawing is great though
I have to disagree with June about the buttons though, I love them the way they are, it wouldn't look as good if the buttons were perfectly round. Well done

Thanks so much every one! I see what you mean about her mouth and I think I am off to fix that! And her buttons were meant to look a bit off but not too strange since the buttons were also described as glistening and perfect in the book. So maybe I will work on those as well. And to answer Lost_in_dreamland's question I do actually have it up in my room, I also have a picture of the Joker hanging above my bed, and my Hello Kitty lamp shines on the face so it is slightly creepy! Ha ha! Thanks again every one! I really love getting critiques!
