*Ok so here it goes:*

Mirrors were everywhere. Raine gazed at the reflection and found herself searching. For what she didn’t know. All she knew was that the answer was there. Suddenly her image faded and her mother’s face appeared.

“You’ve been so very bad, Ma Cherie! How could you let this happen to me?” her mother questioned.

Tears of guilt slid down Raine’s cheeks as she gazed upon her mother. She knew her mother was long dead, but she seemed so real. The face in the mirror gazed earnestly and then burst into vivacious laughter.

“You little slut! This is your entire fault!” the mirror exclaimed in between fits of laughter. “You thought you could get rid of me but guess what? I’m back!”

Raine couldn’t take it anymore. She punched the mirror with all that she had. The glass exploded and rained all over her cutting her face in a million different places. Small rivulets of blood flowed from the cuts, replacing Raine’s former tears. Satisfaction filled her, but was quickly dispelled when another mirror began laughing and another after that. Raine punched and kicked them one by one, until none were left and her hands and face were a bloody mess.

Raine fell to the ground and broke into tears once more. She let her sorrow pour out and knew that it was her fault. How could God ever forgive her? In the middle of the blackness Raine clasped her hands and prayed.

-------------

Raine sat up in her bed with a start. The constant thrumming of the rain against her window instantly relaxed her. Her hand swiped at her eyes wiping the remainder of her tears away. God, she was tired of her nightmares.

It was reoccuring, she could never escape. Fresh warm tears trickled down her face, as she wiped the old ones away. She missed her mother, and was guilty every minute of the day. Why should she suffer it thoughout the night too?

Her alarm clock rang, startling her. Raine pounded the clock with her fist, taking out her anger. She slid her feet onto the cold floor and walked to her dresser. She made sure to avoid the mirror as she passed it.

Raine calmed as she pulled on her clothes and listened to the pounding rain. Her silky black shirt felt great against her skin. Pulling on her shoes she gazed out the window, her own face reflected back out at her, making her flinch.

Her mothers features dominated her face. The same black raven hair flowed down her back. The same keen green eyes stared back at her. Something rustled behind her, and she turned around with a start.

*Sorry for the long wait*

“Azure!” she yelped as small furry ball flew at her. She had found the little calico cat outside her house one night and they’d been best friends ever since. “You can’t scare me like that!”

Raine put the small kitten back on her bed and turned back to the window. The lightning lit up the sky every couple seconds. She yearned to feel the rain and, on impulse, opened the window. Carefully, Raine struck her head outside to look for the ladder that usually leaned against her window. She grabbed it, secured it on the windowsill and slowly lowered herself out of the window. Making her way down the ladder, she looked up to find Azure’s blue eyes gazing out of the window after her.

“Don’t worry baby! I’ll be back soon.”

Raine let herself silently touch the ground and then quickly made her way over to the side of the house. She hoisted herself up and over the fence landing with a small plop in her neighbor’s yard. After tiptoeing to the only open window she quietly pulled herself in. Straightening herself up, she looked around at the continuingly messy room of her best friend, Tai.

With a start, two murky hazel eyes were looking at her.

“Jeez, Rainy! You’re dripping everywhere.”

Tai saw the expression on Raine's face.

"You had the dream again didn't you?" she asked softly. "It wasn't your fault."

Raine winced. "No big deal. Have you done the history project yet? I forgot about mine and I need some help."

Tai sighed, "Its due tommorrow, but I'll help you out. What event did you have?"

They immersed theirselves in the work and Raine got her mind off her dreams. Tai understood her and she always helped take her mind off. Before though, lack of sleep threatened. Raine didn't like sleeping and slept as little as possible. Because sleep meant dreams.

Eventually she nodded off, and her dreams met her once again. Her mother laughed softely in the mirrors. Raine covered her ears, tears trickled down her face. SHe knew what came next.

Hearing a different voice she focused in on it. Then she woke up to bright sunshine.

"I saw you crying and decided that you weren't having the best of dreams. You didn't want to sleep anymore, did you? I know you need it but..."

Raine shook her head vicously. She preferred being awake...and in the present.
