I'm out again for a week, this time from June 4th to June 11th. Gotta head up to Pennsylvania for Camp School so that I can get certified to run an Aquatics area at a boy scout camp.

Anyways, sorry for not being as active as I should have been the past two weeks. One of my neighbors had major heart surgery on Wednesday, so that's kept me busy since about Monday (taking him for bike rides and such prior to the surgery, then keeping him company after the surgery). The week before that I had a lot of stuff to get done, such as picking up my diploma since I mistakenly left it at college.

I hope to resolve some issues when I get back, such as the weird logging out thing that a few people have pmmed me about (if you are randoming being logged out, please pm me about it and please go into major detail!). I also plan to add the YWS store when I get back. After I add the YWS store, this site will finally be completely the way I want it to be and no more major additions will be done for at least the rest of 2005 (specially since I'm going to start another big project this Fall!).

Out and in...

I'm back! This time until about June 24th, after which I won't be back until around August 20th. In the next two weeks, I plan on adding the YWS store as well as cleaning up the google ad placement.

Anyways, for the past week I've been at a place called National Camp School (NCS). Like its name suggests, it's a school one goes to in order to get certified in an area for summer camp; this case being Boy Scout summer camp. People go to it to get certified in outdoor skills, management, program, maintenance, ecology, etc. I went to it for Aquatics, and I quickly learned that the Aquatics section at NCS is the closest thing the Boy Scouts have to boot camp.

I would get up at 5:30 am almost every morning to go rowing, then do more rowing as well as canoeing in the morning. In the afternoon, we practiced swimming and lifesaving. The evening saw more of lifesaving, and then nighttime saw lecture and study time. During the entire course of the week, I might have a total of one hour of free time. What made it really tough is just getting rid of old bad habits, such as not feathering when rowing or frog kicking when doing the breaststroke, but it was a really great experience. Plus, I am now certified to run a waterfront area and to conduct water resuces for anybody from a mere tired swimmer to a swimmer who suffered a spinal injury and is now submerged under 15 feet of water. The latter is not fun to do whatsoever...

In any case, it's really cool now to know that I know how to perform water rescues.
