What does it mean to be hurt by love?
For I have never seen an emotion
Put someone in a hospital bed.
Who has ever seen a patient,
That has been punched by happiness
Or kicked by jealousy?
Then surely love,
Cannot stab you in the back?

What does it mean to have a stolen heart,
Yet to still be alive and well?
If a pair of lungs were a victim of theft
Then would you not die?
Then what do they mean
When they say he is a thief?
For he has never stolen
Anything of value from me.

What do they mean when they say I am blind?
Can I not see my surroundings
Or view my peers?
I see with clarity
I need no stick
To tap about my feet,
To find my way through life
I need no carer to guide my path.

And what does it mean when they say he is gone?
That he will not come back for me
That I am just some phase?
Well I know better.
So I shall wait for him
At the top of the road
Until he returns with his sweet embrace.
I shall wait…

I was feeling bad because I haven't written on here in a while so I decided to post this poem.
I'm not too sure about it yet and I think the title needs changing.
But anywho any comments would be much appreciated and please tell me whether you think the title suits the poem or not! :D

Thanks,

First of all, the title led me to expect an entirely different kind of a poem, but I actually found the title pretty good. Though maybe, as you say, it could be better. It was a really nice poem and I enjoyed reading it. The first stanza is brilliant! It's my favorite.

There is this one stanza which wasn't exactly clear to me, I'm not sure what meaning you intend to put across.

What do they mean when they say I am blind?

Can I not see my surroundings

Or view my peers?

I see with clarity

I need no stick

To tap about my feet,

To find my way through life

I need no carer to guide my path.

Pretending in words was too tentative, too vulnerable, too embarrassing to let anyone know.

I just came across this and found out for myself that it was brilliant. I am not exaggerating. The humor alone in the beginning adds a perfect touch to this, and the emotion contained in the stanza about being blind really hits home in some ways.

Excellent work. I really enjoyed it.
