I tend too go with super nature side of stories. So I have written a few stories on vampires and werewolves, also about demons, a fox demon, and now about crystal guardians. The crystal guardians are something that I came up with.

It is what I know how to write and I do love to write about them. But I would like to get away from them a little. A lot of the super natural things are over played a lot. Like vampire and werewolves, and I have a hard time making those my own so I try to come up with some different super natural thing.

Whenever I do that people always go huh? And even when I explain them to people they still go "huh?"

So my question is should I stick with the super natural or should I try more things to reality. As if start with things with reality how could I start a story for that?

If you like writing supernatural stories, write supernatural stories.

*shrugs*

If you're afraid of straying into the realms of cliche - which is a risk with all genres, really - try to find a new spin you can put on your stories.

For example, you could take the basic concept of vampires, and tweak it. You could, say, take away the blood drinking aspect of it, and replace it with an uncontrollable hunger for human flesh. It's a small thing, but it really adds back in the "ick" factor that's been lost from vampires; actually eating people is nastier than just drinking their blood.

Try seeing what you can come up with. Take a supernatural archetype and play around with it, mould it like putty, and try to come up with something fresh and new.
I wrote the above just for you.

SUpernatural, I prefer to write that way also.
If you can't seem to get any new ideas, revert to yours or even your friends or families dream. Change and tweak common knowledge. Alot of books are alike. Try to make it your own. Think abut how many books have been written, its not easy to be original. I have the same problem. :) Don't worry to hard about it.

Some people don't want to read reality. There is a large, large audience out there for pure fantasy. But you should try to put a twist on it, be creative. Maybe a fantasy story that starts off with fantasy and goes to reality? A fantasy creature trying to cope with the insanity of our reality, instead of a human trying to cope with the insanity of fantasy?

Or, you know, something creative, anyway.
How am I not myself?
