Why?

After going over my comments I'm beginning to lose all faith in you all. When people comment me and tell me I should do this and that, It makes my work un-original. And to some of you I say "Come on."
I will never give a Character in a Short Story a name.

Just answer these questions:



Why should I have to explain everything to you in a story? Why can't you imagine?

Should I ever read someone else's work and basically copy that? (some one told me to)


Do you have to know the history of the characters? Why cant you just have a random time period thrown at you in a story?

Where is your originality in writing?


I dont mean to be mean infact some of these questions are just to get you to think.

I just read over one of your stories (A Gentle Breeze) to get an understanding about what you were talking about and I can answer your questions:

I will never give a Character in a Short Story a name.

You gave Kara a name in the story of yours I just read so as long and it's first person and there's not many "she" and "he"'s in there, you're fine.

You didn't give us any clue as to why she would have said No to him so the part of her killing herself makes no sense to us if we don't understand why she did it.

No, never do that. Originallity is always a good thing.

Knowing where the character comes from is part of character development and we're always interested in knowing more about the characters than just mere tidbits. Random points in a story don't help us understand why a character would have done something, like kill herself, when she seemed to be overflowed with happy memories moments before that.

Where is your originality in writing?

We have tons of orginality in our writing. As someone once said, most stories are a spin off of some original one, so if you think of it in that context, it's rare to find a purely original story now.

I hope I answered your questions well enough but next time, I think the better place to put this would be in your blog or something, considering this wasn't an actual piece of writing and probably would not be looked to as a fiction piece.
