Help with a plot point...

I'm trying to think of a situation in which the following happens: main female character attempts to save main male character, but accidentally makes the situation worse and forces main male character to use time travel to save them both. (Let me know if that's too confusing, and needs a better explanation.)

I've been trying to think of a situation that is somewhat realistic and not very dramatic, but I've come up with nothing! Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!


P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't too sure where to put it.

Boy likes girl. Girl only sees boy as a friend. Boy asks girl number two to help him get girl number one. Girl number one is actually a lesbian and has only now realized that she's in love with girl number two when they started talking about boy. Girl on girl. Now, boy has to go back to the past on his DeLorean to stop this from happening!

It looks like everything hinges on how the girl makes the situation worse. After you figure that out, everything should fall into place. I won't give specific suggestions because the answer depends entirely on your plot and the direction of the story and a million other things you as the author know more about than I do ^_^ When looking for a conflict, though, ask yourself what could happen to each of the characters to make the situation infinitely worse than it already is ^_^
