We were supposed to take one of our favorite songs and write a story with every line fitting in somehow. I chose the song "Speeding Cars" by Imogen Heap. A stanza of the song will be italicized and then the part of the story that goes with that stanza will follow. If you're confused or don't get how some of the lyrics fit in, feel free to ask. Thanks for reading!
Little note: I did not write this song, this song is not mine. It is the fabomondus creation of the lovely Imogen Heap. I just turned it into a story
----------------------------------------------------------
Here's the day you hoped would never come
don’t feed me violins
just run with me through roads of speeding cars.
The paper cuts the cheating lovers
the coffee's never strong enough
I know you think it's more than just bad luck
I knew these were some of the last words he wanted to hear but it had to be said. “Aeryk, I think we should get back together.”
He looked at me in utter disbelief.
The last few months hadn’t been easy by any means. Between the over-dramatic friends trying to break us up, the cheating, the lies, and the betrayal, it was just easier for us not to be together. However, the heart doesn’t lie and although I knew we should stay apart, every ounce of my being wanted to be with him.
“You’re kidding right?” He was still was completely disbelieving. “After all the shit that happened when we were together, you want to give it a second chance? What makes you so sure it’ll work after last time?”
“I don’t know. But what I do know is that I still love you, I never stopped. You broke my heart once and I forgave you for that. Don’t break it again.”
He still looked undecided about everything.
“Take a chance! Even if it doesn’t work out at least we know we tried! Isn’t it worth the risk? Isn’t it worth knowing if it could have been something?” My eyes were pleading.
“Alivia.” He took a deep breath. “Think about everything that happened. All the shit we went through and then got nothing out of. We cheated on each other, we lied to each other, we did everything wrong. Nothing turned out well and anything we tried to do to fix it just ended badly too.”
“So we got dealt a bad hand. So what! I know you think it’s more than that but I don’t think so. Don’t you remember when we first started dating? We were great together. We just can’t let other people influence how we truly feel.”
There there baby
it's just text book stuff
it's in the ABC of growing up
Now now darling
oh don't lose your head
cause none of us were angels
and you know I love you yeah
“Shit happens, Aeryk.” I continued, “we’re teenagers, our lives aren’t supposed to be all goody, goody happy all the time. Everyone goes through bad stuff but you don’t need to over react about it. We both made mistakes but that isn’t about to stop me from loving you with all of my heart.” I suddenly realized I was on the verge of tears. This was it. Either he would accept me for who I am and how I feel or it would be truly over. I didn’t want to think about that second possibility.
Sleeping pills know sleeping dogs lie
never far enough away
Glistening in the cold sweat of guilt
I've watched you slowly winding down for years
You can't keep on like this...
now's a bad a time as any
“I love to you, Alivia, really I do. I think the time apart has given me the chance to see how amazing you truly are. There’s a ‘but’, though.” He smiled. I looked at him anxiously, waiting for him to continue. “I feel like if we truly going to give this a shot, if we’re truly going to just put the past behind us, I think we first need to really understand what happened. If we don’t, the issues we may have had will never be resolved and that will just make the same shit happen again.
“Personally, I feel incredibly awful about everything I did to you. I wasn’t in a good frame of mind to be dating people and I just took it out on you and I’m so sorry for that.” His eyes were apologetic.
“I’m sorry too. I never meant to hurt you so much and if I could take it back I would in a heartbeat.” Tears were forming in my eyes and I quickly batted them away. “I just feel so bad. After we broke up you just seemed so depressed and upset and I feel like it’s all my fault. I want you to know that I’m so sorry, and you deserve a chance to be happy. You can’t stay upset the rest of your life. I promise that if you give me a second chance I’ll let you be happy.” A single tear rolled down my face. I quickly wiped it away before he could see.

“This kind of stuff happens to everyone, Aeryk. Ask any of your friends, they’ve all been through shit like this before; it just comes with growing up. You have to stop agonizing over it. You just need to let it go. We both made mistakes and we’re both aware of that. I still love you, though.”
it's ok by me..
it's ok by me..

“But you don’t care?” He still looked disbelieving. “You don’t care that I cheated on you? You don’t care that I lied? You don’t care that I betrayed your trust over an over? You don’t care that not only was I a terrible boyfriend to you, but I was just a terrible person in general? You want to just forget all of that and start over fresh?”
“Yeah. I do. I don’t care about the past. I don’t care about what you’ve done. I don’t care that you made mistakes. That was then. This is now.” I stated plainly.
it's ok by me..

“Do you care that I cheated on you? And I lied to you? And I betrayed your trust? I wasn’t a good person to you either.” I said bluntly.
“You’re a good person, Alivia. You made mistakes and I can forgive you for that. It’s okay that you lied. It’s okay that you cheated. It’s okay that you broke my trust. I did the same to you.” He paused for a brief moment. “I agree with you Alivia. We need to live for the now. We can’t change what we’ve done.”

“It’s time we moved on. If we fail, we fail. I don’t think we will because we’re stronger now, but if we do I think we’ll be alright. We can just take it as a sign that we aren’t supposed to be together.” He smiled again. “I guess we could consider ourselves lucky. Most people don’t get this kind of second chance. Neither of us are perfect but we can still love each other.”

“Exactly.” I smiled. “And if it doesn’t work this time, that’s it. We’ll know we aren’t supposed to be together and just move on. I’m willing to try if you are.”
“After such a motivational speech, how couldn’t I be willing to try?” He grinned.
I smiled back. “Now if it starts to not work, don’t freak out on yourself trying to fix everything, it has to work on its own. Neither of us are perfect so we have to just let it take it’s own due course. Deal?”
“Deal.” He wrapped his arm around my waist, holding me close. He leaned his head down close to my ear and softly whispered, “I never stopped loving you.”
