I see there's a welcome thread already but then people have made their own intro threads...so I'm going with the latter. Sorry.

My username is Robin but call me whatever you want. I've been writing for awhile but I didn't start taking it seriously until I was thirteen. Right now I'm a creative writing major at a university but I'm not motivated enough to earn a degree. I wanted to go into the tattooing business but apparently my parents had other plans. So here I am.

I mostly write short stories, because I get writers block easily when I'm attempting to write anything longer. The genre I prefer to write is transgressive (think Chuck Palahniuk or Bret Easton Ellis). The majority of what I write takes place in Illinois because that's where I'm from and what I know. I used to be big on third person but then switched over to first it seemed more flexible. But anyway besides writing, I love music...mainly metal and prog rock. And I can't think of anything else to put here so.

The end.

Hello there, it's lovely to meet you and there's no need to apologise, most people prefer to have their own welcome thread.

What are your interests outside of writing (and I presume tattoos? Do you have any?) and who's your favourite author?

If you get lost around the site, would like a critique or just feel like getting to know one of the members, feel free to pm me. Hope you like it here,

Heather xx

Favorite author is Douglas Coupland and I guess Harlan Coben...not sure if anyone has heard of either though.

And yes I have four tattoos. One on each wrist and one on each ankle.

Interests = I watch a lot of TV and a lot of movies...and I draw (not so much lately).

Hello Robin. Welcome to YWS! I'm known as Mizz-Iceberg around here.
It's great to meet you! If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I see that you like to draw too. Check our our Art And Photography forum. Maybe you post some of your drawing there and get them reviewed.

See you around.

Welcome to YWS. Tattoo artist, huh? You should consider reading House of Leaves. Other than the fact that it is an amazing book, it has tattoo artists. (Actually, the connection I made there makes no sense, but you should read it!)

If you have any questions or need help with something on the site, feel free to bother me! I hope that you enjoy YWS, and perhaps find the focus/motivation to actually get that degree, haha.

Welcome to YWS! It's addicting - you'll love it!

Anyways, don't worry about Writer's Block - we all get it. Ever hear of nanowrimo? It really helps get rid of Writer's Block. You're forced to write quickly, so you just push out the words.

But short stories are great, too. That's what I'm doing at the moment - it's a blast, huh?

Feel free to PM me whenever you get something up! I'm always looking to do more critiques.

I have a feeling this site doesn't like the type of stuff I mostly write. Probably was a bad idea to join.

Why do you say that? I just looked in your portfolio, and you only have one piece of writing up. One that was submitted today.

People promise a lot of critiques (I have about 20 waiting for me right now,) and they take a long time to do them (I spend about an hour per piece.) It takes a bit to get a response.

Also, yours is rated R. It won't show up on the front page, and some kids won't look at it.

I'll look at your piece, but PM me to remind me - I know I'll forget. And the more reviews you do, the more you get!

(Oh, yeah: have you ever heard of the 'will critique for food?' Go to Community at the top of the page, then the lounge, and this will be an option under the lounge. Or you can click my link in my siggy (below) and get to mine, then click to get to the forum. Or I can stop being lazy and get you the link...hang on... ;P)

Don't give up yet! The site doesn't know you yet, but when we do, you'll get hundreds of critiques!

Edit: I have the link! Here it is:

Ditto what she said. I hardly ever got critiques when I first started on here. Now I get quite a few. The more you review, the more people will know you and want to read your stuff. If I had time, I'd take a look and offer a critique (unhelpful as it would be), but I don't, so maybe in a few days. And yeah, I'd definitely check out the "Will Critique for Food" forum.

Okay, now that I'm done babbling...will a lovely gift persuade you to stay? :D :) :( :o  :? 8) :x :P       :!: :?:   :| :elephant: :thud: :smt005 :smt006 :smt014 :smt023 :smt034 :smt059 :smt069 :smt081 :smt055 :smt046 :pirate1: :smt118 :smt117 :smt084 :smt041

It's nice to stay with what you know, I agree. I go all jelloid when I think; "Oh, maybe I'll set this one over seas!" and then realise that I have to sit for aaages and research different areas because I haven't a clue what's outside my front door.

Welcome to YWS!

Feel free to PM me with any quries you may have and I hope you have a great time on the site; it's pretty cool, although I haven;t been around for aaaages.

Welcome to YWS. I'm Rick. I hope you enjoy the site as much as we all do. After you get 25 reviews, you can access the YWS chatroom and talk about any work you're doing, ask for crits for anything, ask anyone if they have something they want/need critted, and/or just hang out in and talk about your day. Before you post your own work, you need atleast two crits. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions/concerns about anything.

Bye.

-Rick.

Hola Robin and welcome to YWS!!

Cool, you have four tattoos. I'm more into piercings myself and want my eyebrow done next.

If you ever need anything then feel free to pm me and I'll be more than happy to help you out. Check out the FAQ's if you haven't already.

All the best with your writing and I hope you like it here.

See you around,
