Friend.
Do we really know the meaning of this monosyllable?
Some say yes, some say no,
It's all just a matter of opinion.

Actually, some of our greatest friends live with us.
Whether they can do magic,
Or read minds,
or even fly.

Most of us can just disappear with a friend,
And live with them through magic lands and demons,
While others just find friends distracting,
and a total waste of time.

Most horrible of all is the lack of friendship nowadays,
just because we don't have time for it.
So pick up a book that you see,
start reading and leave everything you know behind.

I'm not a popular person at school.
But I just counted the population of my book shelf..
About 170.
Well, I feel popular!
What an ego boost!

No, I'm just kidding.
I liked this a lot, though it kind of screams "Book mark!"
=P
Knock kock!
Who's there?
Naked cowboy!
Naked cowboy who?
TOOTHPASTE!!!

Hey! I liked your poem, because it sort of surprised me. I was thinking you were going to be talking about imaginary friends, not books. But, hey, books are great friends, too!

This should be nowadays.

When you pick up a book,
you have a new friend,
one that doesn't disappoint,
and that you can enjoy,

Hmm...I'm not sure how to fix this one, but it lacks rhythm. In all the other stanzas, you vary the length of the lines, but here they're all short.
