OK, just finished this book, and was BLOWN AWAY.

The books is about a young boy growing up in Ireland until a chain of events leads him, sometime after early adulthood, to travel to the new land of America. There he lives on the island of Manhatten, until another chain of events leads him to being gifted from an African shaman the gift of eternal life. The only hitch is, he cannot leave the island of Manhatten or else he will die.

The first part of the books leads up to that point, afterwards you have to find out for yourself. I'll only say that I was having mixed up dreams about the plot line, and that this book has got to be one of the best I've ever read. It is steeped not only in Irish and American history, but in the history of one of America's largest cities.

I'd give it nine of ten stars, easy.
I'm not even angry... I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
And killed me... And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
