At first glance this book sounds as if it's a little kids book about a farm. It's not. It's actually a very well written political allegory. And it doesn't deal with what the pig eats. It takes on a big issue, Communism.
Plot/Storyline: I give the Plot/Storyline 10/10 I like how this story presented communism. It didn't go in do a whole crapload of details about how communism works. It told it in the simplest form, but not so simple that it made it sound "fun". It showed the great evils of Communism and how corrupted it becomes. In the beginning, the "Animal Farm" works. Each member of the society does his fair share to better the whole. But slowly over time (just like it always does) the power goes to the leaders heads. It eventually becomes so bad that the animals "can't tell the humans from the pigs."
Character Development: I give the character development a 7/10. Because George Orwell was trying to present a topic and not a character he fell a little short of my expectations. I know he couldn't describe every character in full detail, but Mr. Orwell could have at least described some of them better.
FINAL SCORE ON THE MAD-SCALE: 17/20
