Hi, I'm Cynicalgurl. I live in Southern California with my family and before you ask, no I do not surf. So I'm new... what do I do? I saw the site on a google search and decided what the heck, why not. And that's how I got here.

I looked around the site a bit and thought it was cool. Thank you to all the people who joined right before me for asking what the points were for because now I know because of the answers you guys got.

...but why do people have different colors of stars under their picture? Is that like a rank or something or how much power you have? If so, how do I get stars? If I don't have any, does that mean I can only post or something? I got a pm from Nate and he said I could start a blog on here, but do I have to have a certain number of different color stars first? When I try to view it, it says it doesn't exist.

I like fiction books, but I love writing essays. I like writing essays better than writing fiction, but I like reading fiction a lot better than writing essays. Go figure?

About my name. I'm not sure if I'm cynical or not, but my friends all tell me I am... so I guess I am?

So... yeah. That's pretty much what I have to say, I think. I'll post again if I think of something else...

edit Haha, I can edit my posts. That's cool.

edit edit Thanks Sureal. Yeah, I found out I can post comments and I thought that it was weird that I could do that but not make my own blog. But I guess that would make sense. Thanks again.

Hello there. ^_^

To answer your questions:

- The quantity and colour of your stars is dependant upon the number of reviews (for other people's stories and poems) you've given. See here for more information.

- You can start a blog right now, if you like. Mouse over 'Blogs' at the top of page, and click on 'Blog Control Panel'. You can set up your blog from there.

Hope you enjoy your time at YWS. ^_^

Hey! I'm Wiggy, and welcome to YWS! *shakes hand vigorously* I'm known as the crazy one around here, so prepare yourself...*fanfare of trumpets* lol Anyways, that's really cool that you like to write essays! I do that sometimes, too, and it's awesome when I meet other people who can do that. I like historical fiction and romance the best, but essays rock! :D

My favorite color is cerulean--what's yours?

Again, welcome, and if you need any help or just need to talk, pm me! *huggles* I'm so glad you joined, and btw, Merry Christmas!

Wiggy ;)

Essays, huh? Interesting. Well, to each his (or her ;)) own.

I think I've written one too many of those things in my day. There is a Non-fiction section, so feel free to utilize that area of the site.

Okay, I have a question.

Can mods see hidden users? Or your PMs in the chat? Or your PMs on the site? What about your blog entries that are only open to friends or your self?

Really sorry if this is a silly question, but *throws certain people a dark look* now I'm all paranoid. Okay, Mom's shouting at me to get ready for school, so I'm off now. But if somebody could answer my question, that would be really great! :D

Hi!

Welcome to the YWS! If you ever need anything (review on something you've written... answer to a question, etc.) just PM me and I'll be happy to help. This site can get pretty confusing.

Now onto your question: No, I don't think Mods can see hidden users or PMs or private blog entries... I'm not a Mod, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Mods have any superpowers when it comes to private things. But they can delete or move posts, and stuff like that.

Hope that clears up confusion!

See you around the site!

Hehe, nope! Moderators cannot read Pms. Administrators can't, even; those are completely private! I am not sure about the blog entries, although I would have to say that moderators cannot read those as well.

I am not sure if you asked this question or if it was even answered, so: the reason people have different colored names are because of special jobs, and they are:

Administrators: they're in red, and you can go to these people if you have a serious problem with another member (although you can also go to any of the moderators). Since we only have three admins, it is actually better to find a moderator. There are a lot more of us, and we are always around. These guys keep the site in tip-top shape, and we love them very much.

Moderators and Jr. Moderators: the former are dark green, the latter, light green, but they are all part of the YWS Mod Squad. You can Pm any of these people (and as you will notice, I am one!) if you have a question about the site, or have had an issue with another member, whether they defied the rules, called you a nasty name, or you think something in the sit should be moved/edited. We're here for lots of things, haha. With that said, feel free to Pm me if you have any other questions or need help with something and I will do my best to answer you!

Instructors: these are the people in purple, and they are those who you can look to for critiques. If you have posted something and would like an in depth critique, anyone in purple can offer you one. They can also offer writing tips, and help, and often write writing article which you can find in the YWS data base (under the "Resource" button at the top).

Greeters: these are the people in light blue, and it is their job to make sure all new members are greeted, helped out, and feel welcome.

I hope I wasn't blabbering without a purpose? Hehe. It's great to see a new member at the site, and I hope you find that you enjoy it! Please, don't hesitate if you have another question. We're here to help!

Hi cynicalgurl! My name is Ariel, but most people on here just call me Maybe or Mays. Feel free to call me whatever you want, though.

Welcome to YWS! I hope you find your stay here enjoyable and helpful. We're all here to help each other! If you have any questions or concerns, you can PM myself or anyone else in an odd color (as most of the people above me have already addressed) and we'd be more than happy to help in any possible. Or, if you just want a critique or just want to chat, feel free to PM me then, too!

Glad to have you aboard YWS and I'll hopefully see you around the site!
