ALL BECAUSE OF ONE SECRET CODE
Here I was… just lying there thinking in my head with what happened. There’s nothing different that goes through my mind. That’s the first thing I notice: memories of the past repeating and spinning in your head as if it was a Ferris Wheel… then there’s a blinding light beamed right at you as if a torch was directed at you… and despite all of this I don’t even know how much time has went by… maybe it has only been a few hours.
Or maybe it’s been ten years. Nothing gets better either… I remember giving some men who were apparently good friends of my dad’s the password to his computer. My dad had worked in the Air Force area named Nellis. I remember giving them the password yester(day?) just to see what would happen and ever since I had given them the password I wish I hadn’t.
I wonder what would happen if I didn’t give them the password. It would’ve been okay and I would’ve stopped all this from happening… this couldn’t really be happening could it? No it wasn’t happening it couldn’t be. Soon my alarm will go off and my older brother will run into my room and will jump on the end of the bed telling me to get up and everything will be okay.
That sentence struck through my mind over and over: everything will be okay. Everything will be okay. Wake up! There was nothing but silence. Silence is kind of scary at the moment because when there’s silence it means you’re all alone, by yourself. Being alone was sometimes bad because you had to figure things out yourself and no one was there to help you.
The picture of me giving the password away was in my head. If only I had another chance. I wish I could take back time to save the ones I cared about. But it was too late and too bad. It was my entire fault. I shouldn’t have given that password away.
I remember everything before I gave the password away. I remember my dad had given me a map of Nellis which was where he worked. He told me that through 1984 Nellis had at least 225 nuclear bombs and 35 air launch cruise missiles but ever since 1985 Nellis hadn’t given away anymore information because there were terrorists. My dad had given me a Coke and attended a meeting as I sat in his comfy office chair.
I found that I still had memories in my head after what had happened. But all of this couldn’t be happening could it? I hope it’s not happening because if it was it all happened because of me.
Alright time to wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Rise and shine. Get out of bed. Wake up now. Now! Wake up. Wakey wackey! Wake up! This was no dream this was real and it was my entire fault. If only I didn’t tell those men the password everything and everyone would’ve been okay.
Dad would’ve been okay. I would’ve been okay. Everyone twelve kilometers from Nellis would be okay. Mum isn’t here. I miss mum. I should’ve been nicer to her. I shouldn’t have yelled at her all those times. I shouldn’t have yelled at her. The last time I saw her I yelled at her because I had got a C minus in English and I had gone totally crazy and yelled at her which wasn’t what I should’ve done. I mean it wasn’t her fault about the English and it wasn’t her fault about the men getting the password off of me so now I will never know why I yelled at her and I would never be able to apologize because she couldn’t see me again… I was really far away from her… I was really far away from everyone.
Everyone I had ever known or cared about was flashing through my mind just like a scrapbook. But now I realize it was no dream. It was all real. I had given those three terrorists the password to my dads’ computer which gave them the entry to area two which was where they stored all the old nuclear weapons! They had commit suicide and blew themselves up in front of the nuclear weapons! I saw it all on camera while my dad and the people in the meeting were watching on camera like hawks. I saw their horrified faces as the nuclear blast swept its way through Nellis and destroyed everything and everyone in its way!
I could remember the innocent faces of the people as they all looked at each other in horror. But I stood there feeling guilty after what I had done… I was standing right there next to them and they didn’t even know it was my fault. Now they would never know because they were all dead from the blast, even my dad. But my mum was at home at the time and the only reason why she couldn’t see me again was because I was dead… all this time I had been dead… I had this question in my head since I was seven and it was: what was it like when you die? Now I know.
I could see a blinding light getting so bright that my memories were fading… I guess this was the last thing you had seen before you die… the white light was so bright that my memories were gone, vanished into nothing as if they never existed… the white light then turned to pitch black darkness… I could hear nothing at all… then I realize that this was how it ended… I had died…
The End
