hey im new here i posted a couple of things but one of my critiques discouraged me a little bit so im laying off for a while. (i know, poor me ) ummm... so yah i hope that i will like it here and i hope that it will be fun. also i was wondering, can you delete your account? ive decided to give it another go but im just asking. thanx bye!

Hello there Cat. You're much too easy to discourage, my dear. Don't worry. You're bound to get a few critiques you don't agree with, even the best of the writers on this site do but it's a good writer who can take the criticism to heart and not back down. I'm Kitty. Welcome to the site!

As for your question about deleting accounts, I believe it can be done by the all powerful administrators but it's not necessary. If you decide that you really don't like us, then you can leave your account open just in case there's a slight chance we may be able to entice (or drag) you back

thanx you guys i know i can be a little... easy to discourage sometimes but don't worry you can't get rid of me that easy!

Glad to hear it Cat. You'll develop a thick skin with time and get a sense of what to listen to and what to ignore. Generally, critics here aren't trying to discourage you, they're just trying to help you improove, so it can be helpful to think of this.

Personally, I wait until I'm emotionally distanced from a piece before I post it here (e.g I usually don't put something up until weeks or even months after it's done. I also like to put pieces up if they get rejected, to get a sense of what's gone wrong in my piece, or even what could just be polished.) I know how you can feel like pieces are bits of your soul, or your children or something, and that if you're still very caught up with the piece, it can hurt if it's criticised.

Yea, ditto Jasmine. Don't get discouraged!! If there's something you've written that hasn't gotten any critiques, PM me and I'll critique it! Just remember that I'm not that expirienced with poetry, but I'll still let you know what I think of it From what I've read, you're an awesome writer, it would be terrible if you stopped writing because you thought you weren't appreciated!!

Don't get discouraged! I've never seen any "flames" on YWS, so I'm willing to bet that whoever it was honestly was trying to help. (If you really are terrible, look on the bright side: you can only get better!)*
