[pre]It’s hard to be the girl that’s the ugliest duckling in her friendship with swans
It’s difficult to feel affection for the people who throw you on the ground, face first
But it’s helpful to be invisible.
A ghost in a world of spotlights, trained to follow their subject through wars and book signings
Narcissus’ mirror cracked and offering seven years bad luck, but no one wants control
Of the lady whose name contradicts her lucky connotations, and so my shoulder
Is volunteered for her to lean on, pushing me in a puddle
That is much deeper than it looks, which
Is a situation I rarely find myself in.
I tried to count my blessings, but instead counted my sheep
And found myself dozing, engulfed in dreams of sugared plums and sugared speeches,
Sugar-coating the strawberries that I’m force-fed via feeding tube, but
No one will pull the plug.
I pushed aside the curtains, expecting to see a spider web, but instead saw spiders
Constructing a web of lies and light, of deceit and loss, and I was lost in thought while
Watching them sew such a mixture of blood and beauty that I found myself entangled
In this web that was as tangled as the one I wove for myself, my shroud for burial, because
I planned on dying alive.
I held my camera in my clammy palms,
Taking pictures of my destructive existence as it was being destroyed,
And the only thing I wondered of it
Was whether or not my web was formerly a house, made a home
By a being of the place I was leaving.[/pre]

This is interesting.

I really like it, but I want to push it into form, with proper line breaks, punctuation, style, etc. Currently it's just in weird paragraphs with strange line breaks. I think you could pull it together properly into stanzas, and it would be better. I may also be able to understand it better. It is very stream of consciousness, but I think it is OK for that, because you have a lot of beautiful imagery. So long as you make me feel something as well, and you do tangle me up a lot. I liked your reference to Narcissus, although it didn't have that much meaning in your poem.

Keep it up, but try to put it in verse. ^_~ I like my poems in verse, hah.

'Tis rather a stream of consciousness, as the title says. There are some great images in here, but it doesn't really form a coherent, meaningful poem.

I think you would be best off pulling out just one of these images. Find your favorite one, and build a poem from that singular, strong image alone. It's difficult for a reader to concentrate on a poem when it jumps around so much and presents so many different situations, emotions, or images.

By putting the focus on just one or two strong parts, you can further develop your poem and allow your reader room to really think about what you're saying. This poem is a fantastic collection of various focuses (foci?)--hold on to it, because it might turn into something great.

EDIT: And I agree with Suz. Structure would be excellent. Right now, it seems a little sloppy and hard on the eyes.
