The last really bad storm my town had, I snuck outside at like, two in the morning with a metal rod. I stood out in the middle of my field. Leaves and other matter were flying around my head as I raised the metal rod to the sky. I was out there for about ten minutes, holding up the rod and avoiding shrapnel. I was waiting for lightning to strike. I just wanted to see how it would feel to get struck. Suddenly the skies lit up, brighter than the brightest day. A lightning bolt had struck a tree not thirty feet away. I watched as the bolt struck in awe and fascination. Then I remembered the metal rod. Damn, I thought, this is stupid, even for me! I looked back at the tree. There was a clear line of bark missing from where the bolt had struck, even looking from thirty feet away! I quickly snuck back inside and dried off. I don’t think I’ll ever do that again. Or maybe I will…
Well, I did go out in a thunderstorm. I was going to take a metal rod, but decieded not to be that stupid. I wrote this right before I actually did it... I don't know why.
Interesting. Would have been a nasty shock if somone found you all electrocuted though. That would have been like a suicide note or something. Glad your better sense took hold of you.
