But I'll tell you guys about me anyway, perhaps I'll cultivate more than a 'welcome/hi/i lyk dat too' thread. Some general information:
I'm a fifteen year old kid from Australia, self proclaimed OCD. I can't stand things when they aren't to my standards, and I even chat and send text messages without using imish (Instant Messenger-ish).
I'm described as pretentious, insensitive, arrogant, and stubborn. And that's just from my friends. But I'll restrain my cynical tongue if I can.
I'm into computers, ever since I was three I've been playing games like a zombie. I can program in a few languages to a small extent as well. Musically, I'm a child of the 80s, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal is my crack, but I'm not notably averse to much music - although rap is my least favourite. I played the flute when I was younger, but now I'm sporadically dusting off the guitars in the corner of my room. I hate watching sport (on TV), but I like to play it. Except netball, and any game using one of those oval balls (Rugby, AFL, Gridiron, whatever). I particularly like running, high jump and fencing. Fencing is great, and I understand there are fencers on YWS already.
I don't actually read very much fiction at all, I'm quite happy to put books down before I've read any further than the first chapter. The reason is that I used to read The Wheel Of Time, so now I have a very low tolerance for drivel. My head's too full of it.
I'm not one for senseless death and drooling vegetables of characters in writing. I fell asleep in the Doom movie, for goodness sake. So 'action' doesn't get me excited. Not unless I actually care.
If you want me to spare you a rant, don't be blatantly derivative, and don't -ever- use a phrase like: 'The elf *insert action here*' in the first paragraph of your prologue. If there's anything I despise, it's the preconception that some people have - that the elves in their story are self-evidently Tolkien-esque elves. Describe your damn elves.
Random Question Time:
Q: Who is the fictional character that best embodies you?
A: A hybrid of: Raistlin Majere, Shinji Ikari, Holden Caulfield and Artemis Fowl. Couldn't pick just one. Someone care to draw a picture?
Normally I'm a shy person, and I'm not apt to speak without stumbling over my words. Not stuttering, I'm more of a clutterer. I find it much easier to write than I do to speak, things come out much clearer.
I can really go on and on.
Finally, I'd like to say, grudgingly, and in the most cliche of ways:
Hello.
