Killing a character...

I killed my favorite character... and it hurt, but it was for the best.

I don't know if I could kill my character like that. I'd prolly be too attached!

I have this too. My tips:

1) Consider if the death is really necessary. If it is then get ready for step 2.

2) Figure out the way you want to kill your character.

3) Figure out the place to kill kill your character.

4) Foreshadow the character's death (this step is optional).

5) Write the chapters or passages leading up to the death.

6) Write the death scene, delicately. It doesn't matter if you can make the reader cry, if you cry that means it's a good passage. :cry:

7) Describe the character's friend's pain and the aftermath of the death.

8 ) Move on. Write something a little more upbeat after that part.

These are my tips. Of course, you could always end a story with a character's death.
