I'm back at work this week, and so my writing happened much faster and easier than last
week. This week's writing was much a continuation of last week's scene. In the scene, Railyn and Corrick enter the baths together as Corrick tries to help Railyn get over his fear of showering together with boys around his age. It's a scene of exploration and solemn self reflection and mutual trust between boys who are in similar situations, just different points in time in this. We move on from Corrick's past to possibilities and difficulties surrounding the future. We end the scene on conquering fears and a bond between boys. Next week we will start moving the plot forward with introductions of other boys and the chaos of move in day to dorms! See you all next week!

This week, we see Corrick's POV come to a conclusion! It's not nearly as long as Railyn's POV
at the beginning (7k versus 17k) but it's still pretty long! One of first notes for my draft revision is to switch POVs more often, and I will be more likely to switch POVs more often going forward. I kept with Corrick's POV for so long this time around because I felt bad sticking with Railyn for so long xD it almost felt like it was going to be solely a Railyn POV novel, which was not my intention. But alas, that's how writing goes sometimes! I'm still really just exploring writing in general, the nuances are not going to be there and that's okay. In this week we just get a continuation of the baths scene and a transition to their new room. Corrick ruminates on Railyn wearing dirty clothes and that not everyone came from his background (that he's still not sharing much about) and they get going to their new dorms. Last week I said we're finally going to meet new students and that didn't end up happening, but this time, next week we will hopefully actually see new students. I may also write more this week as I'm so close to 25,000 words and it's the beginning of the work week so I have so much more time to potentially write that I may just continue writing this week and get to that 25k mark. The last version of Silver and Silk (and the last LMS) got to 27k which remains the most I have ever written for a solo novel, so I'm excited to get past that point! The next plot part of this story is going to be more of a challenge to write, but unlike last time I am motivated to tackle the hurdle. See you next week!

Soooo I keep saying we're going to meet some new students next week and it doesn't happen
... I'm afraid to say that the saying is going to have to continue for next week. Next week, though, promise! I didn't realize it would take 1000 words to travel down a hallway but in my defense it was a pretty cool hallway! And we got Railyn's thoughts again after so long without them. So, it took a bit, but it'll go faster next week! They are now in the communal area right before the dorms, so next week for sure we'll meet new characters, and maybe some of the ones we've already read about. Poor Railyn feels so isolated and reminisces on his past a bit. We get a just a hint of Railyn's traditions and viewpoints of the sea.

Me when I keep lying. No new students this week... next week for sure! (I scream to someone
in a straight jacket but no one's actually there and I'm talking to myself) because like I must sound insane at this point. Welp, it turns out 1000 words is not a lot when you're writing to make a wordcount. Anything can be stretched to 1000 words LOL -- we get Railyn's emotions about trying to speak up for himself and some descriptors of the room. (wow so much in 1k words good job, me) next week we'll finish exploring the room and finally meet some of the other first year boys. SO NEXT WEEK FOR SURE.

A true poet does not bother to be poetical. Nor does a nursery gardener scent his roses.
