I have a something called MD or Maladaptive Daydreaming, and it makes it hard to focus. But the good thing is, that I enjoy it and that it helps me keep my mind off stressful things, and gives me ideas for my stories! It usually happens at night, and I usually do it before bed...once I dreamt up of an entire storyline in one night XD

For me it definitely depends! It's a mix between when I'm trying to sleep, while actually writing, and doing other day to day activities. A lot of times poetry writing doesn't just come "naturally" and I kind of have to dig for ideas/words as I'm writing it. But other times if my mind is wandering or something I see inspires me I will quickly jot down that idea, even if I'm not actively writing! I also take a lot of inspiration from other writers and their work—even though not for direct ideas, it gives me motivation to keep writing whenever I'm struggling.

when it comes to ideas, my mind goes a mile a minute, so sitting down and brainstorming is the best way to build a story
