hera to zeus's lovers
i do not blame you for falling for his facade.
he is, after all, the king of the gods.
but peer a bit deeper,
he is no keeper;
he is a cruel and deceiving fraud.
this isn't a threat.
this is a warning.
each one of you bets
he'll stay for the morning.
but i am queen
and i have seen
him flit from lover to lover,
a monster undercover.
i tell you now,
"he will not."

the fates
what use is there
in happy endings?
you learn
nothing
from them.
take your turn
of savage burns
and the future will remember your story.

the library of alexandria
page by page,
history burns
when everything comes
to the light.

victory: the goddess nike speaks
mortals and deities alike
confuse victory with
unfaltering, unwavering pride
when it is
but another way
of learning.
there has never been arrogance
in the pure art of victory.

(afterpoem)
storytellers
what were ovid, homer, and hesiod?
three names burned into history
as having words as their lifeblood
and verse as their souls.
they fluctuate between
light and darkness,
peace and war,
following the timelines
of many journeys
of both character and body.
what are poets
but philosophers undone?
what are we
but storytellers?
