Whether out of defiance, desperation, or a vision you have yet to fully grasp, you took the path the world told you to abandon. A path buried under five hundred years of silence, shame, and rewritten history.
No one remembers the heroes anymore;Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha---the ones who once shaped the world with their will, now reduced to myths, half-remembered and unwanted. The shinobi way has long since fallen out of favor, a remnant of a violent age most would rather forget.
You live in a world that has moved on without you.
The great villages still exist, but they are hollowed-out echoes of what they once were, fractured by distrust, driven by technology, and clinging to peace with trembling hands. Shinobi are no longer honored protectors or weapons of war. You're an outsider. A ghost. A rogue agent in a world that only barely tolerates your kind. Now more than ever, shinobi are seen as problematic---especially in the Land of Fire, after the incident revolving around the Nine Tails attack. Choosing this life is seen as a mistake. Perhaps it is a mistake, and yet. here you are.
You were warned. You were told there’s no honor in being a ninja anymore, no structure, no village system to hide behind. You act outside of government, between borders, in the shadows of a continent, it's flesh being torn part only to be welded together with metal scraps. The faction you belong to is fading fast, and it won't be long before the Daimyo of the five nations declare the start of a new era.
This is not the world you were promised. And now, something’s stirring beneath the surface. Something ancient, with a bitterness transcending generations past and forthcoming, something that remembers what the world wants to forget.
So welcome, shinobi. This is your world now. Fight for it. Burn with it. Or disappear like the rest.
Power system:

In Naruto, every living thing possesses something called chakra. It's basically something akin to life force generated by combining physical and spiritual energies. It is essential for performing ninjutsu and crucial to understand when creating your character's powers.
Chakra flows through the body via a network of pathways, passing through 361 nodes or chakra points. It regenerates passively - originating when physical and spiritual energy combined as mentioned before - which occurs in the lower abdomen. Characters can also focus their chakra at will via hand signs, most notably the "ram" hand sign, which is used as the beginning hand seal for the majority of straightforward ninjutsu.
The seven main chakra natures in Naruto are Yin (spiritual), Yang (physical), Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water. These are the foundational elements of all physical jutsu. Combining two chakra natures is called a Kekkei Genkai; combining three or more is called a Kekkei Tota, but requires complete mastery over a shinobi's chakra. Clan specialties are usually Kekkei Genkai - and in rare cases - Kekkei Tota, but they can also be something completely unrelated to performing physical ninjutsu.
Ocular dojutsu are another form of Kekkei Genkai, such as the Byakugan and Sharingan, but are restricted to the Hyuga and Uchiha clan respectively. I heavily encourage you to create your own clan, or at least a sole character belonging to that clan, with its own Kekkei Genkai. New Dojutsu concepts are welcome as well.

If you can't come up with a KG/KT of your own, here are some great examples:
Fire + Earth = Lava Release: allows the user to conjure up molten rock formations from the earth, break the earth down with the extreme temperatures of lava, or shoot fast-moving projectiles from the users hands, feet, and mouth.
Fire + Water = Boil Release: Increases body heat and strength; user can melt and breakdown things they make contact with through direct contact or physical changes within the air molecules.
Fire + Wind = Scorch Release: allows the user to create masses ranging from projectiles to explosions of intense heat, capable of evaporating the liquids inside a target's body, leaving behind a dried husk.
Fire + Earth + Wind = Dust Release: allows the user to disintegrate matter at a molecular level, effectively destroying anything it touches within a set barrier. These barriers can consist of cubes or beams that can expand and even work as projectiles in some instances.
These are just combinations with Fire nature, but it's a fairly simple concept. If you're still unsure, look at the image below.

Taijutsu is a basic form of techniques and refers to any techniques involving the martial arts or the optimization of natural human abilities. Taijutsu is executed by directly accessing the user's physical and mental energies, relying on the stamina and strength gained through training. It typically does not require chakra, though chakra may be used to enhance its techniques. Taijutsu generally requires no hand seals to perform, occasionally making use of certain stances or poses, and are far quicker to use than ninjutsu or genjutsu. Taijutsu is, simply put, hand-to-hand combat.
Genjutsu is arguably the most dangerous form of jutsu. It traps the target in powerful illusions, often affecting all their sense. Without a dojutsu (like the Sharingan), escaping requires help from an ally or a burst of chakra using a release technique. Genjutsu cannot physically harm the body, but can create the illusion of pain. Genjutsu are often inescapable as they utilize chakra to link to minds or affect an area within a specific range.
Some genjutsu are spells that just put people to sleep, while jutsu like the Sharingan can use the most powerful genjutsu.
On paper, genjutsu can be escaped by using a release technique (clasping your hands together and releasing a burst of chakra), but if a genjutsu user is capable enough, their genjutsu can be powerful enough that they can trap you inside of an illusion within an illusion, if they have massive chakra reserves, can just keep spamming genjutsu, and of course, if its a spell that puts you to to sleep, then you can't clasp your hands together anyway.
If you're fighting alongside allies, however, they can break you out of a genjutsu using the technique mentioned prior.

The Shijin Continent:
Spoiler
The role-play will take place in one continent, specifically one city within a nation, Konohagakure (Konoha for short, or the Hidden Leaf Village). This is to keep the plot linear and organized as much as possible, with some scenes being an exception (e.g. introductory scenes for characters or arcs). Because of this, I recommend making a Leaf Shinobi character first, because if you make a character from another nation or village, you'll have to wait a while to actually use them.
The 5 great nations are named after what chakra nature/KG was invented/passed down, so more likely than not, a Leaf shinobi's chakra nature will be fire.
It is also important to note, that the "hidden villages" while not actually hidden, are named after the surrounding terrain. (e.g. Sunagakure is located in a desert; Kirigakure is built upon a small archipelago on the ocean rather than one big landmass)
