Share Your Old Art

Hey yall, Gengar here. I was thinking about how my art has improved over time so I wanted to make this thread where people show their old art to show how much they've improved.

Uh pls no NSFW, and put any sensitive content (gore, sensitive topics) in a spoiler. Also, I implore yall to be kind to your past selves, even if you don't think your art is very good

Here's some of my old art from middle school! I mostly drew characters from video games I liked at the time (some of the biggest ones were Piggy, Pokemon, and Friday Night Funkin'). I often made comics with my ocs, there were these four in particular who were all like roommates. I didn't really have a developed style, I kind of mimicked the style of art youtubers I liked. And I also often traced over bases because I didn't understand anatomy, which gave some of my pieces unusual proportions; sometimes I even took shortcuts when I didn't know how to draw something, such as giving a character oven mitts because I couldn't drawn hands

Okayyy now time for the new art! I draw more original characters now, though in recent times I've done more fanart or made fan characters (*cough* spooky month *cough*). I find that I have a more defined style, and I use textured lineart and varying line weight more often than I did before (and I also do a lot of lineless art). I also feel like I have a better grasp on anatomy and perspective. There's still a lot that I need to work on, but I like the improvement that I've made.

Yess I love this! Because people would have never pursued anything or become better if they didn’t practice. Everyone has to start somewhere.
