Open your eyes.
No wait, I take it back.
Open your ears.
Wind rushing,
Dogs barking,
People singing.
And talking, always talking.
Which is why it’s good
To open your ears.
Some people babble
About inconsequential things,
But some people speak
In gems.

Admittedly, it needs work, so load on the harsh criticism and go easy on the sugar!!! *sighs and goes back to trying to write*

The poem would be better off without these lines.

The only substantial points, I believe, belong to the last four lines. On top of that, I think there are many more beautiful sounds that could be described - and not listed, I might add - to this poem. Speaking of listing, the noun-verb-ing set up is monotonous and screams unoriginality. Think of new ways to elaborate on these beautiful sounds. Open your ears, perhaps, and give the world harmonies.

Okay, lets get started...

Firstly, I would like to say that i really liked your poem. However, there are some parts that are lacking in continuation. As bonafide previously pointed out, you could use many more beutiful (sorry, I'm very bad at spelling) sounds. Some of these could be:
Birds whistling
Water rushing
Flutes playing
Bells ringing
And the pages of a book flapping
These are only some suggestions. If you add more noises, your poem will have more of a feel, and have much more depth.

And talking, always talking.

Yes, um... I'm not sure why, but this line kind of bothers me. I think you should take out a word or two to make it "And always talking". I just think it will sound a little better.

About inconsequential things

Take out inconsequential. I know it's a pretty vocabulary word, but it messes with the whole rythm. Also, it doesn't make a whole lot of sence. I mean, they may be "inconsequential" to you, but that wouldn't be the word I would use. If you do mean to say that, then I would recommend using a thesaurus.

But some people speak
In gems.

I love this line. However, I do think that you should go into more detail about it. Describing the beutiful things some people talk about. And then if you wanted, you could add some repitition and do something like:
"Some speak of
Wind Rushing
Dogs Barking
etc."
Anyway, that's just what I would recommend, but whether you do it is completely up to you.

I really liked the poem, and I can't wait to see it after you edit it. Good luck.
