Respect
Is just re-used compliments
Dipped in chocolate
And served to a woman
On a silver platter

Men don’t make respect
They steal it
From another chef
And serve it up
As if it was their own

Imposter
Like fine imported treats
Until you get them
You look at the postage
It’s what you ordered
But not from where you ordered it from
The heart
dont push me cause im close to the edge

Hey! Nice to see some more work from you. This is a great poem, IMHO, although I take issue with a couple of things:

1. Line breaks. These can be really important in a poem and at the moment there are a couple of breaks which are bothering me.

2. The last stanza. Where has your rhythm gone??? It's confused and all over the place.

So I think you should work on those things a bit.

This is great. Really. I'm not sure that the idea quite works -- respect is much more than just compliments and chocolate -- but in this context, it will suffice. I think you should tweak the line breaks a little though to make it a bit smoother.

I simply adore this stanza. Seriously. Love the way you carry through the chef and waiter type imagery. Again, the line-breaks are a bit choppy. I'm not sure how to smooth it there and still keep that neat rhythm, but I recommend that you give it a try all the same.

Here it goes to pieces a little. The idea is still great, and I love the consistency in your analogy here. But:

1. Who is the imposter? Respect? If so, perhaps it would be better to say something else, because until now you havent really personified "respect" and it would be confusing to have it all of a sudden shown as a living being or whatever. Or are you referring to the men who fake respect? In this case, I would urge you to say "imposters", rather, as you are speaking of men in general rather than a single man.

2. LOVE the second line.

3. Third and fourth lines are confusing and (IMHO) unnecessary to the "plot" of the poem. Instead, you could perhaps rewrite it to read something like:

Good until you get them, but
although they're what you ordered...

4. I get the idea in the last few lines, and it's great. Very clever, in fact. But there has to be a better way of saying it, 'cause at the moment it's completely out of sync with the rest of the poem and its messing up the neat rhythm. I'd work on those lines in particular if I were you.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed it. A nice piece with some clever and original imagery. I will look forward to seeing what you do with this.

Cheers,
