I was never bold enough
To try my luck.
I hung back,
Waiting for others
To test the waters,
Longing for the initial chill
Of knowing that I did that,
I was brave.
I was never smart enough
To enter in the science fair,
But I always wanted to,
Just to say I did,
Just to say, “Hey, look at mine!”
I was never good enough
To donate canned goods,
Or help the homeless.
All I ever did was
Donate my hair
To Locks of Love.
But here’s one thing
I have done.
I have always smiled.
