She opens her mouth to ask about another random topic to continue the small talk, but quickly closes it when she notices that Heli has returned with their orders. Now she flashes a smile in the direction of the waitress, eagerly thanking her as she places their meals down in front of them.

He smiled to Heli as he took his meal.

The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

Now that the food is in front of them, Runi begins to eagerly dig in. She's absolutely famished. If she had any plans to continue their small talk prior to the meal arriving, those plans are quickly forgotten - her only focus is on the steak that's in front of her.

He wolfs his food down out of habit. Eating slowly was never something he had really been good at - years at the orphanage and then prison had taught him that his food would get stolen if it wasn't in his stomach.

She's sure people are staring now, but this is one of the few times where she doesn't really care what they end up thinking about the two of them. Runi's starving, and Cornyx apparently is too.

(She's secretly grateful for him digging in like she is, since she's usually met with disbelief and offended noises and/or expressions whenever she eats so quickly in front of other people.)

He finishes in record time.

"Wow," she says, pushing her own plate to the side. "You sure finished fast. Although I probably should have expected that, since you did seem to be eating at about the same speed I was - or maybe more. I didn't realize someone else could put that much food away in such a little period of time."

She thinks for a moment, then grins and leans across the table. "I bet it's because we're both, you know," she says, giving him a very exaggerated wink before returning to her earlier posture. "So, do you want some dessert? Or are you ready to go?"

He chuckled, glancing down. "Well, I've learned to eat quickly, since usually there was someone else there to take it. A bad habit that I sh-should probably break. I'm down with whichever you prefer, Miss Runi."

"No, don't worry about it!" she hurriedly assures him. "I personally think that's a very good reason to have that habit, and that's in your best interests not to break it - you never know what life is going to throw you, so it's a good idea to keep your senses sharp."

She thinks for a moment, frowns, and then looks him over. "You're the guest here, Cornyx. Are you still hungry, or are you full? I don't really care either way." It's a major lie. She absolutely loves dessert, but she can put it off if it makes Cornyx feel more comfortable.

"Well, I'd just hate to impose upon you, is all," he said with a small shrug. "But dessert does sound delicious," he added with a small smile.

She lets out a relieved sigh. "Oh, thank God," she says, giving him a large grin as she sinks back into her seat. "I was hoping you'd say that. I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable if you didn't want dessert, but I absolutely love it."

He laughed. "One thing you'll learn about me is that I rarely say no to food, Miss Runi."

Her grin somehow managed to grow even larger. "Me too," she agreed, eagerly awaiting Heli's return. "So what types of things do you like for dessert? I'm going to get myself a cup of ice cream."

"Ice cream sounds delicious," he answered with a smile. "There's always room for ice cream."

When Heli finally returned to their table, Runi eagerly put in two orders for ice cream. The place unfortunately only served small, cup-sized servings, but it would be a nice, refreshing treat no matter the size. There was also unfortunately only vanilla ice cream - if only they served chocolate as well!

"The trouble with Borrowing another mind was, you always felt out of place when you got back to your own body, and Granny was the first person ever to read the mind of a building. Now she was feeling big and gritty and full of passages. 'Are you all right?' Granny nodded, and opened her windows. She extended her east and west wings and tried to concentrate on the tiny cup held in her pillars."
