Share here some of your writing warm ups. Do you free write? Write about what is on your desk? Or do you jump right in? Also do writing warm up help you versus not doing them?

I plot before I write a scene.

I don't just sit down and write something. I take a few minutes to go "okay, what are the goals of this scene? What's the general take away? Where will my character end up after this scene?" (works for business writing, too— I figure out the objectives and goals of the piece before I sit down to write it)

It started off with an RP habit just to make sure both me and my partner were on the same page. Then I noticed it made the drafts so much better and we got stuck a lot less just because we always knew where the scene was supposed to go and what the next steps were. I kept doing it, and my writing feels less floundering around when I'm writing something new.
