Samantha Heikkinen - Behind the gym, at the training
"Someones hunting you Sam, he wants your power, he knows you have it, he knows I have mine."

I wrapped my arms around Andrea and let her cry on my shoulder. It was frightening to see her like that. She was always so though, and the fact that she was crying really said something about the situation we were in. And that about a man hunting me.. Could she be talking about my father? I knew my parents were coming after me, but they couldn't possibly know where I was.

"It's okay," I said as I squeezed her harder. What kind of idiot was I, to try to lie to my mind-reading girlfriend? My thought earned me a slight laugh in between the sobs. "Who, exactly, is it that's hunting me?" I asked, not quite sure if I should try to take her mind off things or talk about it.

"He's one of the investigators. I heard him thinking about a run-away shapeshifting sister."

I laughed slightly and kissed her. "I don't have a brother, Andrea." But the whole thing about a shapeshifter was a scary coincidence.

Before she had time to say something Eli had started shouting at Daniel, and before anyone of us had time to get up they were fighting like two dogs on the street. Andrea quickly wiped her tears and got up. Guess that was as much of an emotional breakdown she was allowed to have, when the rest of the club was acting like that.

"Stop!" Akiza shouted while trying to pull Daniel away.

"What do you think you're doing?" Andrea demanded as Eli and Daniel back away from each other.

"What was that for?" Daniel asked.

"Eli, that was totally not cool," I said and almost winced at how pathetic it sounded. Totally not cool, really?

"Are you all completely blind? You think we can just do whatever we want? We have to stick up for each other!" Well, no one was disagreeing with him. Daniel going off to play at some concert in the middle of this was insane. He might be immortal, but the rest of us weren't.

"That’s rich, coming from you. What was that about 'doing whatever you want'?"

Eli was going to hit Daniel again, but Jonathan was there and grabbed his shoulder, though he barely touched it before he pulled back. "Don’t," he pleaded.

"You need to calm down Eli," Andrea said. In fact, we all needed to calm down. this was getting out of hand.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Maybe we should all just talk this over?"

Eli obviously didn't like that decision, since he turned around and bolted. Em followed, and then Daniel before we had time to say anything. I looked at Andrea, Jonathan and Akiza. "Should we follow them?" I asked.

Cole Barlow/Tahvo Heikkinen - At the school
I left the office to go to the school and fake some documents. If Dakota and I were going to become teachers then I'd have to get rid of the current teachers first. Get rid of as in burning their documents and convincing the principal. I really hoped she was a woman, and preferably not an ancient one.

I walked to the school, taking my time too look around. The town seemed almost dead. The few people I spotted on the street were either ancient or.. Bland. Ugh, why did people even choose to live in a place like this? Even weirder was the fact that kids with supernatural abilities seemed to've gathered up here.

The school was empty, and the door was locked, but locks had never really posed a problem to me, so I simply walked right in. So.. The place where they stored important papers. I looked around. Didn't schools usually have some reception or something?

After walking around for quite sometime I found what I was looking for and entered through the locked doors. I located the documents I needed, filled in some papers about the history and the geography teachers' resignments, faked some signatures. I located the principals office, snuck in and put the documents on her desk, but before I could return I heard someone entering.

I put on my biggest and most charming smile as a middle-aged woman came in. "Hello, principal. How are you today?"

At first she just stared at me. "What are you doing here? I locked the door."

"No, the door was open.. And I was looking for you."

She looked skeptical. "Oh?"

"Yes.. Your secretary informed me that you're searching for two teachers, and I happen to be looking for a job."

"I'm sorry, there must've been some misunderstanding. We have all the teachers we need."

"Really? Then what are those papers on your desk." She picked them up and read them through, and then she stared at me again, with eyes that clearly said that she didn't believe any of this. "What is it? Don't you trust me?"

I stepped closer to her and took her hand. Immediately my smile spread to her face. "Of course I do, why wouldn't I?"

That's more like it. It's surprising what people were willing to believe in if you just opened up their minds a bit. "So, am I, and my friend, hired? I reeeaaaally like history."

I bit back a laugh when she suddenly grabbed my a**. Maybe I opened her mind a bit too much, but I had been expecting this reaction. When ever people suppressed something it was most often lust. "You're hired, honey."

***

I took a deep breath as I got out from the school. That was.. Creepy. I was about to leave, but I heard muffled voices from behind the gym. At first I was planning to ignore it, but then I recognized the voice of the mind-reader from earlier. I might as well take a look.. Maybe I'd find some of her friends.

I knew I couldn't get too close to her, 'cause she'd know that I was there, so instead I monkeyed my way up on the roof of the main building to get a view. Indeed she had some friends with her, and they seemed to be fighting. When one of them ran of, and two other people followed, I ran after. Keeping up with them wasn't a problem, at all.

As I got closer to the place where they seemed to be fighting, - Seriously, is that all they ever do? - I climbed up a tree. There was a new guy there, one I didn't recognize. Seemed quite strong though, and the kid he was fighting obviously had some powers of his own, or he would've been crushed. This gets better and better for ever second.

Now.. I didn't want the guy to crush them, since they might want to give me their powers, but I didn't really want to jump down into a situation where I didn't know everything about the ones involved. I'd just stay here and watch for now, unless it got too serious. If anyone got hurt I'd help. Pff, me playing the good guy, what a joke.

I watched as Daniel took off after Eli, and turned to look at Sam as she spoke.

"Should we follow them?" she asks.

"I think they should work out their problems by themselves, but you can go if you want," I answer.

"It would take me ages to get there," said Jonathan with a weak sigh. "I can't keep up, but you two should go." He gestured towards Sam and Andrea.

"I think i'll stay here with Jonathan and make sure he's ok." I look over at him. "And plus, your emotions are giving me a head ache."

Andrea frowns at me for some unfathomable reason before taking Sam's hand and heading off in the direction everyone else went. I turn to Jonathan. "Wanna get out of here? We could hand at my house. The sun light is starting to annoy me."

I guess he wasn't used to people inviting him to do anything. His surprise made me frown inwardly. Hm.

"Yeah, sure," he said with a slight smile.

*****************************

As we head up the steps to my house I pull out my key and open the door before ushering him inside. I close the door as I enter and set the alarm.

Jonathan stopped in front of the double staircase and begins to look around.

"The kitchen is to the left, the living room to the right, there's a bathroom down the hallway and it's the first door to your right. There's also a dining room at the very back." I inform. "Any questions?"

He turned to look at me. "What do you do for fun around here?"

I smiled. "Well, since there are so many rooms in this house, I made the room next to mine a music room and a training room."

"Training room?" he asked.

"I do Martial Arts." I answered.

More surprise mingled with something else I couldn't quit identify. "Really?"

I nodded. "Yea. Since I was a kid."

I headed left towards the kitchen with Jonathan right on my tail. I walked over to the cool stainless steel Refrgerator and opened one side to look in. "Would you like somthing to drink?"

"What do you have?" he took a seat at the giant marble island in the middle of the kitchen.

"Apple juice, Water, Soda," I tick them off. "Pick you drink."

"I'll take a Water." he decided.

I grabbed two and sat down in one the chairs beside him. He smiled. "Thanks."

I smiled back before opening and taking a godd swig. The house was so quiet. Mom and Axel wouldn't be back until tomorrow, or the day after that at the very least, which meant I pretty much had the house to myself for the next little while. I always loved the sound of silence. It was peaceful to me. Silence for me must not be as it is for Jonathan, because of the unease I was getting off of him. He was uncomfortable too.

"Is something wrong?" I look at him.

"No.. It's just." He seemed to be looking at something beside me. "Nothing," he said and shook his head. "How did the practice go for you?"

"As good as it can, though I didn't really practice." I shrug. "What about you?"

"As good as it can, though I really didn't practice." I shrug. "What about you?"

"Well, I thought I had learned something new, but nothing really happened. All I saw was a light, and then I lost my focus..." He trailed off for a minute, staring at the empty spot next to me. "do you mind if I tried it on you? I just need to borrow your hand."

"Sure." I held my hand out to him.

He closed his eye and took a deep breath his hand tightening around mine. Hm. after a few minutes of sitting here, my hands began to go numb. I flexed it in Jonathan's hand, but it didn't help at all. That same numb feeling began to slowly slither it's way up my right arm untl i'd lost all feeling it. Looking at Jonathan, he hadn't stirred a bit. Hm. Maybe it was just a side effect. A minute later, both of My legs began to go numb, but that was becauseI was sitting at the edge of the stool, so I didn't worry. My body began feel heavy, like it was filled with Lead. my chest felt so tight I thought it would burst. My vision blurred out of focus.

"Jonathan," I rasped, not realzing until now how hard it was to breath. "Something's wrong."

He didn't respond.

My heart galloped in my chest as if out of control. I pulled my shades off and set them down before shaking Jonathan. "Jonathan! Something's wrong. You need to stop!"

He didn't even twitch. A head ache came with so much force i'm surpised it didn't knock me flat on my Butt. My hand flew to my head with a groan. Sweat began to slide down my face in rivulets as I shook Jonathan, trying t pull him out of what ever he was in. Still nothing. My head felt like it was being split in two. I groaned again as things began to shake and quake around the kitchen. I yanked on the hand he he held, but he didn't let go. A splitting pain shot through my mind as objects start flyin around the room. No! Not again! Not again! The flood gates in my mind begin to crumble, one by one, unleashing so much pent up energy, it would only be a matter of minutes before everything went to hell.

"Jonathan!!" I yelled.

I shook him again. What the hell was going on? My vision faded until everything was a giant blur. I shook my head. Something lanced by my cheek, making it sting. I'd forgotten about the knife block I'd put out earlier today, and now regretted it. I look looked around, but couldn't see much of anything now. Another shooting pain lance through my brain and just hold back a scream more glancing blows from knives whirling around the room, cutting my along my cheeks, arms and legs.

"Jonathan!! Snap out of it!" I pull my hand back and send it flying across his cheek.

His eyes fly open as he looks around the room.

"What are you..." His eyes widened as he saw the knives along with other objects flying around.

It was coming. It could feel that last barrier in my mind giving way and and said, "Brace yourself."

A clap of thunder reverbreated through the room, a giant onslaught of energy expelling itself from me, flinging us away from eachother.

**************************************

I came to in excrutiating pain, turning over onto my side and letting out a loud growl. I had a knife in my right leg, left arm, and one sticking out of my right side, all bleeding generously. The cuts I'd sustained from earlier were also still bleeding, and felt like someone had rubbed salt and lemon juice in them. That isn't the nicest feeling. I looked around the room, noting how everything was strewn along the floor. I spotted Jonathan lying unconscious beside the doorway and drag myself over to him, leaving a trail of blood along the way.

"Jonathan," I shook his shoulder. "wake up."

He stirred slightly, but nothing else. Another shake, and still nothing. I let my body relax for a moment. It felt so heavy, and I was so tired. My heart beat was slower then usual, and my breathing was so heavy. I shook my head. No. I have to mak sure Jonathan is alright. Propping myself on an elbow. I shook him hard enough to give him whip lash. He groaned, rolling onto his other side, then sat up. "What the...."

"Jonathan," I panted.

He looked down at me, his eye going wide. He scrambled closer to me."Oh my good!! Are you ok?"

I groaned. His panic was making me nauseous. "I'm fine. I just need you to get me over to the couch."

"Um," he panicked for a moment. "Ok."

Angel - Bruied in a wooden hole.

Annoying: was the first word to describe this idiot I began to dig myself out of the hole that I was in slowly, but surely. That guy, one heck of a kick he delivered, I'll give him that. Sent me into a wall everything came down on me when I landed, when I finally dug myself out of the hole I been buried in, I looked around carefully trying to figure out where he went. I walked over to him his back was turned to me and I knew I had the jump on him, I tapped him on the shoulder, he turned around when he shouldn't have.

"Boo," I slammed my fist hard into his chest, and he went flying.

He slammed against the wall, between the two that stood in the room.

"Daniel!" The girl screamed.

"Ha, ha, ha, little man learns his place!" I said with a grin.

The second guy stepped forward, "sorry to say Em, but I think Daniel's out," he said.

I pointed at the girl, the same one I was sent to capture days back. "You, your little trick will not work on me again, it will not save you again," I said.

The guy didn't waste any time he hit me, once, twice, three times, but all I did afterwards was scratch my stomach, "I think your a tad weak for trying to fight me," I said.

He launches into another attack, but this time, I whine up my arm and release, but this time he adjusts his hands and grabs hold of my arm. But not before I caught him in his lips, he held on tight, not allowing himself to let go, I threw my arm around in attempt to throw him off. But it just doesn't work, I finally slam him into a wall and he falls to the ground, his body inactive.

I turn to the girl who I towered over her as she cowered before me, I grinned as I grabbed her by her arm. "My father will reward me greatly for your recapture," I said.

"No, No, Not again! I will not go back into that room again!" she struggles and pushes hard against me as I begin to walk out with her in my hands, she continues to struggle.

"Stop it, stop it now!" I yell at her.

She stopped at my command, but now I couldn't see her eyes, I grin again, "good, at least your obediate," I said.

Then, she looked up and her eyes, her eyes were pure black, not a trace of white in them, "put, me, down, now," her voice was not normal. It sounded different, demonic, how, how could this be?!

My hands, they tremor, I was afraid, I was afraid! I release my grip on her and she lands on her feet, and unfazed by me now. She raises her hand and smiles a crooked smile, like my fear amsued her. "Goodbye," she said.

With a flick of her wrist, and sent me flying into the wall, I slam into it hard, and for the first time in a long time, I felt pain. Then I went flying against the the opposite wall , then I was thrown to the floor and forcefully dragged along it. Then I was slammed into the cieling, and then I fell to the floor, everything about me hurts. I looked up and I see the girls black eyes again, she held fire in her hand as she looked down on me.

"Just kill me already," I said.

"With pleasure," she said in her demon voice.

Then suddenly, she was out of my sight, and I heard a voice, "Em, wake up, you got to fight it!" I heard, I couldn't see who it was, but now was my chance to run, and so I moved.

Slowly at first, but when I got to my feet I was able to move quickly making my way out the door, I couldn't get the girl, I needed help...

Em-Fight-scene

There's fire burning in my veins; that's the only way I can describe it. I was going to kill him, I was going to end it, I could feel Angel's fear as I summoned the flames in my hand.

Then Eli's voice brings me back from my bloodlust, and somehow I find the will to step back as Angel retreats. Every fibre in my being is telling me to follow, pushing me, urging me, begging me to go after him; but I don't. I hear Eli move behind me.

"Em", he says. "Em, this isn't you."

I want so badly to believe him, but I can't deny that I'd known what I was doing, I'd known the consequences; I just hadn't cared. I don't dare face him as I reply. It's bad enough that my voice doesn't sound like me, he doesn't need to see my face. "Yes, it is." I watch as black flames begin to dace across my skin as they had before, I don't see any white this time. I notice that they stay on one side of my body. "Well, half of me anyway."

He speaks again, closer now. "You can still fight this."

I whip around to face him, an unexpected rage shoots through me. "Fight against what? Myself? I've always been this Eli; this... thing. The only difference now is that you can see it. I haven't changed Eli."

His face remains expressionless; his emotions perfectly guarded; for a while. Then something flickers in his eyes and he takes hold of my arm. I wrench it out of his grasp. "Don't touch me." I'm glaring at him , but I can already feel the fire in my veins fading, along with the anger. I back against the wall; feeling lightheaded. Something's dripping onto the floor, and at first I dismiss it as a leaking pipe or something. But then I put a hand to my face and realize my nose is bleeding, a lot.

My head hurts.

And suddenly the floor is rising up to bash me in the face. I catch myself, my vision's blurry, I can hear Eli and somebody else yelling, or are they whispering? I can't tell anymore. Each sound only seems to blend into the next, I can't tell how much time is passing, or if any has passed at all. I groan and roll over, the noise is too loud. Then there's someone beside me, picking me up. I try to push away, but I don't have the strength to fight right now. Never once have I felt so helpless; I hate it.

I force my head clear. "Put me down", I say. My voice comes out as a rasp.

No answer.

I shift myself away. "Put me down", I mutter."I can walk." But really, I know I can't. Besides, whoever's carrying me is running, and that is definitely something I'm not in the position to do.

Silence.

I listen as branches begin to snap under his feet. I'm immediately on guard.

"Who are you", I demand. "Why are we in the woods?" It doesn't come out as authoritative as I would've liked.

He still doesn't answer.

I push open my eyes, but it's too dark to see who's carrying me. I close my eyes again, my head's still pounding, my thoughts are too scattered to reach, and all of the sudden I'm really tired.

I yawn and rest my head against his chest."Okay then Mr. Quiet Guy, you'd better not drop me."

Eli---At the fight

Angels blow sent Eli flying back, almost exactly as he had before in the church. He hit his head on something on the way down, and swam around in scattered thoughts as he clung to consciousness.

But then he saw Em. At first he thought it was the demon who killed his parents, and some emotion he couldn’t name welled up inside of him. But the black feathers didn’t belong to the beaked face of the demon he had killed, but to Em. Wings? Dark flames spiraled all around her. Eli felt the ground move forward beneath his feet, as if the entire world was being pulled in towards Em’s powers. He could taste a hunger for blood in the air, and the murderous intent did not belong to Angel. It belonged to his friend. Could he call her that?

He was moving then, running. He stopped behind Em and was lost. He stood there not knowing what to do.

“Em.” He said quietly. “This isn’t you.” An image of his dead parents flashed into his mind. Had that been him too? He thought of the darkness that always ebbed on the edge of his powers.

“You can fight this.” He said, half to himself perhaps. Em turned suddenly, lashing out at him. Eli found himself staring into the eyes of a demon, something he would always hate. But he felt something else too… those were Em’s eyes afterall.
“I haven’t changed Eli.” Before she could say another thing he reached out and grabbed her wrist. She drew back. “Don’t touch me.” But Eli did not let go. He could feel her demon power burning into him, searing through his veins, but he would not let go. He was done running away from what he feared. He would not run.

Em’s power surged, and then in an instant she had collapsed. Her power went out like a flame, and blood was pouring from her nose. Eli caught her and gently lowered her to the ground.

“Em!” he yelled. His reserve was broken. He looked frantically about for Daniel, and did not notice as Angel crawled to his feet and stumbled off. “Daniel! Daniel help! He yelled, his voice suddenly hoarse.”
Daniel cam over then, still half dizzy. He grew serious when he saw all the blood.

“What do we do?” Eli asked. “What---“

“Let’s take her somewhere safe… and hurry.” Daniel said. “Those runes on her skin---they’re the same as mine. And yours.” He rubbed the back of his neck, thinking.

“There isn’t much time, but it’s possible that we can draw up a circle and seal away some of her power before it starts to drain her.” He said.

“Tell me what we need to do.” Eli said.

“Take her to my place.” Daniel said. “I’ll meet you there as soon as I’ve wrapped things up here.” Eli pushed himself to his feet, carefully holding Em against his chest.

“Oh, and run.” Daniel said over his shoulder.

Eli needed no second urging. His feet flew, even though he felt heavier than ever.

“Don’t lose yourself.” He said between breaths. “Come back Em.”

I turned from watching Eli and Em running away back to Angel. I knew he was strong extremely strong if I couldn't get him off balance again he would easily catch Em and Eli. I stretched briefly and stepped forward. "You couldn't stop me last time little man what makes you think you can this time."

"Your strong I'll give you that boy but let's see how fast you are." I moved faster than the human eye could trace to get behind him I as I swung my fist though a hand appeared unexpectedly. I easily got my hand away but he simply blocked or dodged my attacks. I ran to get behind him but he turned fast and blocked my leg as I went to kick him and he moved away quickly. He wasn't this fast five minutes ago.

"You couldn't really think you were the only fast one little man," he slammed me a good one in the jaw. It wasn't as hard as his super strong punches but I could still feel the force behind it I was briefly stunned. I only had one option and one shot with it I jumped back and rubbed my hands together. "You trying to run away little man?"

"You wish," he began to run after me swinging again and again. I kept dodging and began to charge electricity to my hands I had used this attack seldom as it took a while to charge up when I was moving at regular speed, but having to move faster in order to avoid his attacks made it easy. Electricity was flaring off my hands," I may be small compared to you but I have a trick or two up my sleeves." I slammed my palm on his face, "I know you're only doing this on your fathers bidding but you still hurt my friends and that I can't forgive." I blasted him in the face with the charge of electricity and he fell down unconscious.

I looked down at the unconscious body of the young man. I honestly felt bad for him if I hadn't turned on those that had made me my life wouldn't be very different from his. He was fully unconscious and would be for a while I lifted him up with ease and put him in the house Eli had been staying in Eli wouldn't be return here for a while if it was up to me. I ran out of the hut that Eli had called home and towards my house Eli and Em hadn't arrived far before, me and Em lay on a couch battered and warn. "How is she holding up Eli?"

Em-Nightmare

I'm 14 again. I'm sitting in my bedroom with Tian. She's 12, but her hight makes her look older than she is. Her dark brown eyes look up at me expectantly, half covered by her long dark wavy hair. She's wearing her bright blue torn jeans and the sweater she'd gotten last christmas; The black one, with the pink skull an crossbones.

"Come on, show me again," she urges.

I snap my fingers once more and ignite a small flame. Then I move it to the palm of my hand make the flame larger. She stares at it in awe. I watch her face, and realize just how young she is. I'm quite sure my face looked the same when I'd first discovered my ability.

"You promise not to tell?" I ask.

She looks up at me and crosses her heart. "Promise."

Then the door's thrown open and I look up at the horrified face of my adoptive mother. Then the flame in my hand begins to grow, instead of go out like I remember. It engulfs the room in flames. They're screaming, and then other voices join theirs. I blink. I'm in the warehouse. Tian's calling my name and I'm pushing desperately through the rubble to reach her. When I do, she's lying face down on the floor covered in ash. I reach out and turn her over and all the sudden I'm staring at myself. But with black eyes, black wings, and fanged teeth. "You're too late." She laughs.

I'm sinking through the floor into a dark silence. I can't see anything, and I feel as if I'm suffocating. Then there's a large movie-theatre screen. It's blank and white accept for a small glass orb. I watch it for a while. There's a song coming from it, played on the keys of a piano. It sounds familiar, but I can't remember what it's from.

Then someone's smashing the keys and the song is silent. A shadowed hand envelopes the orb and a steady thunderous voice echos through the room.

"Your soul is mine."

Then it's pitch black again, and this time I'm falling through a never-ending void. It occurs to me now that I might be dead. Then I must be in hell, I think to myself. I close my eyes and prepare to give into the darkness.

Then a memory shoots across my mind. A subtle whisper; Like the breeze. It ignites a deadly flame within me, and I know what i have to do;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Eli---At Daniel’s Mansion

Eli felt like an eternity had passed since he had left the old mining town. At least Daniel’s house was only a short ways down the valley. In reality, it had taken him less than twenty minutes before he had reached the mansion.
The shadows had grown longer as the day drew to a close. Eli carried Em up the front porch. The door was locked. Funny, Daniel never locked his doors. Eli slammed his shoulder into the door and the old-style lock gave way. Panting heavily, he stumbled into the dim interior and set Em down on the couch. He switched on the lights and closed the door as he caught his breath. He hoped Daniel would be there soon.

Eli dragged the couch to the center of the front room and began rearranging the furniture. He tore the rug out from under the sofa and kicked it into a corner, exposing the smooth wood floor. This would work. He pushed the side-tables and chairs against the walls, carefully forming a sort of circle around Em. If only the room were five sided. Eli paused to check on him. Her breaths came in uneven gasps, her head rolling from side to side. Her eyelids were dark and fluttered weakly in unconsciousness, sometimes she would moan softly. What nightmare she was living through Eli could only imagine.

A thump at the door caused him to jump, but it was only Daniel. He pushed his way in past the furniture and surveyed the room.

“This will do.” He said with a nod.

“Do we have candles?” Eli asked. “And chalk.” Daniel nodded and headed for the kitchen. Eli found himself drawn back towards Em. He frowned and ran his fingers through his hair. Would they be in time? Eli wasn’t sure if he had ever been this worried. He had been reckless, certainly, but never worried for anyone but himself. This was such a different feeling. Had he always been so selfish?

Daniel returned with a handful of candles. He handed Eli a piece of chalk and together they drew a perfect circle around Em and the couch.

“Let me get one of my manuals.” Daniel said.

“There’s no time.” Eli said. He began to write the symbols around the inner edge of the circle. He had not done something like this in ages, but the Hebrew words that had been grounded into his brain came back to him as he wrote. He found himself grateful for the Rabbi’s torturous teaching methods. “This is the book of the law…” Soon the words ran all the way around the edge of the circle. Eli finished with the word for iniquity---the same that was on his left palm.

Daniel set up the candles, evenly spacing them on all sides of the circle. Eli watched as he lit them. The silence stretched between them.

“Hey I’m… sorry about earlier.” Eli started.

“Don’t worry about it---there’s more important things to think about right now.” He said.

“That doesn’t mean I’m still not mad at you” Eli said. Daniel shrugged. “I know.” He tried to make his voice sound easy, but Eli saw the sweat beads on the side of his forehead and knew he was nervous over what they were about to do. If things didn’t go right--- Daniel could lose his entire house. Not to mention more important things.

“We’ll have to move her to the floor.” Daniel said, nodding towards Em. Eli gently lifted her to the ground, and he and Daniel moved the couch out of the way.

For a moment they stared down at the utterly still Em. Whatever was going on inside her mind had taken a turn for the worst. There wasn’t a moment to lose.

“Blood.” Daniel said. He looked around for a knife and found one on the mantle. An 18th century dagger. Daniel held it towards his wrist but Eli stopped him.

“Let me do it.” He said. Daniel looked at him, but reluctantly handed over the knife. Eli drew it across his skin and a thin line of red appeared. He held out his arm and squeezed his wrist, allowing his blood to drip down onto the circle. “Please Em,” he thought “Let this work.” Not much was needed, only a little to open the pathway between minds. Eli sat down on the edge of the circle.

“Don’t get lost.” Daniel said. “You out of anyone should know how dangerous this is.”

“I know.” Eli said.

“Ready?”

Daniel and Eli placed their hands on the edge of the circle. Daniel began reciting some ancient rite, it sounded Gaelic, but Eli needed no aid in entering the metaphysical realm. It seemed easier since Em was nearly all demon now. It felt odd, like he was trying to kill a demon. Eli was relieved to find that his own powers seemed back in balance, for the moment he was stable.

Eli’s eyes began to glow along with the runes along his left arm. Daniel’s voice was soon drowned out as he was pulled into a black world…

Darkness was all around, but Eli could feel a warm pulse and moved towards the center of the realm. This was dangerous, drifting through the “half-world” without his own anchoring seal. But he had to find Em’s mind.

“Em!” he yelled. His voice was strange and echoing. Soon the darkness melded into grays, and color began to accompany the clouds of mists. He found her then, hovering in space, entangled in black vines. Her own powers shook the very air, a deadly aura. All supernaturals had auras, sounds that symbolized a being’s level of power. Em’s was the crashing crescendo of piano keys. But there was another sound, a gray aura that threatened to drown all else out. There was another demon here… then Eli saw its black hands. He dropped down instantly. “Iniquity” flashed on his palm as he slammed his hand into the ground---or what he had just made into “ground.” The seal appeared, circling, golden runes that enveloped him and the demon and Em.

The demon turned its black eyes towards him and screeched. Em… if he could only reach Em… he dodged at the creature’s first strike, it came towards him, leaving its would-be-prey of Em behind. He ran towards her then, stretching out his hand… the demon slammed into him from behind, throwing him to the ground. Eli tasted blood in his mouth as he struggled to his feet. The demon materialized into the shape of a great, bat-like beast and its eyes had turned white with rage. Eli knew that it was only a low-level demon taking advantage of Em’s weakened state---the real demon was inside Em’s mind. A demon he could not reach.

“Be gone “dark one,” the Halfling is mine.” The thing hissed. Eli scowled and rushed towards Em again. But the demon drove him back with beating wings. He didn’t have time for this…

Throwing caution to the wind he ran at a dead sprint straight towards the demon that stood between him and Em. He drove his left hand through the demon’s head and finally managed to grab Em’s hand as they both fell.

Razor sharp fangs were buried into his shoulder and Eli felt fiery pain in his gut as the demon ripped him open with hooked claws. But the damage had been done. The runes spread across the demon’s body instantly, and a few moments later it had been consumed by runes, screaming. Eli held on to Em as the world around him began to crumble.

“Open your eyes.” He gasped. “Don’t be pulled in!” Em turned towards his voice.

Just then the last of Eli’s words fell from the seal. He felt the spaceless mist pulling at him again, and almost all his strength was gone. If he could hold on just a bit longer… Eli concentrated all his efforts and managed to cast his own runes over the dark flames on her skin. The light around them began to change, but still Eli would not let go. At the very last Eli saw Em stir. Her eyes drifted open, and she looked down at him. Her expression was clear, if a bit bewildered.

“Eli… what in the world…” she was safe. Safer then she had been in months. Eli knew the moment he looked into her eyes--- her irises had returned to normal. She was human again.

“Where are we?” she asked, looking around.

“Listen…” Eli said with effort… “You’ll have to find your own way back. I can’t help you any more.” She frowned. Eli wanted to say more, but time was up.

“Eli wait…” Em said. He offered her his best smile, and and instant later was wrenched away with an incredible force.

There was an explosion of light and Eli found himself where he had been, kneeling on the floor in Daniel’s front room.

“Where have you been?” he asked at once. “You were gone for ages… I thought this stuff only took seconds!”

But all at once Eli slumped over. He held his side and gritted his teeth as his blood seeped out against his will.

“Eli!” Daniel rushed over.

“I did it.” Eli managed to say. “She’s as safe as she can be now.”

“This is serious.” Daniel said. “You need help… right away.”

“Don’t worry.” Eli said with a grim smile. “It always looks worse than it is.” Daniel rolled up his sleeves.

“Don’t go anywhere… don’t you dare think I’ll let you die in my front room, bastard” he said as he ran off towards the kitchen. Eli curled up on the floor and looked towards Em. She only had to come back from the world of unconsciousness now. He hoped more than anything, that she was alright.

A shudder ran through Eli’s body and the world around him began to grow dim…

Spoiler
No... he's not going to die. I'm banking on the fact that Daniel's 200+ years of knowledge would afford a higher-than-average skill level in regards to medical first aid. ;)

Em-Darkness

It was dark when Eli left, and for the first time in my life I actually felt... cold. I wander through the emptiness for a while; Shivering. When I look down there's a black path leading one way, and a white path leading in the opposite direction. I find myself drawn to the dark, but I can sense my consciousness on the other side of the white.

I walk for what seems like an eternity. When I finally reach the end of the path I'm surrounded by a bunch of mirrors. My black wings are still folded behind my back, but my eyes and teeth are back to normal. But my hair's gone white, no, that's not quite it. Silver? -ish? I turn around and stretch my wings; Looking behind so that I can see them. That's when I realize their full size. I can only just barely touch the ends if I fold them in halfway. Then I notice something else; It's a small symbol on the back of my neck resembling liquid fire.

Defiance... divergence... and the unknown. A small voice whispers the meaning in my head.

For you have already twisted your fate.

The mirrors are fading away now, and I'm surrounded by blinding light.

We'll be watching you mortal.

* * * * *

When I awake I feel no pain. Though it feels like forever since I could say that. The burns and scars are gone, and I finally open my eyes to see that I'm lying in some sort of circle. I stretch my wings and they brush against something. I sit-up abruptly; Eli's lying on the floor a short distance away. I notice that he's bleeding from his side and I dart over to put pressure on the gash. His eyes flutter open, but they seem clouded and he only mumbles and closes his eyes again.

I frantically struggle to remember my limited first aid training. "Eli", I say. "Eli, you need to stay awake."

Then Daniel enters the room with what I assume is medical supplies. I move out of the way and watch as he tears open Eli's shirt to get a better look at his wound. Then he pulls out a bottle of something and hands it to me.

He gestures to Eli's side. "Pour it on, I'll hold him down."

I do as he says; cringing as I do my best to ignore Eli's trembling. Then I move away again as Daniel starts cleaning the blood from around the wound. He doesn't look at me when he speaks.

"I need you to keep him awake, he's going into shock."

I move over to Eli's side, his face is flushed and his breathing's shallow. "Eli, you need to open your eyes, okay?"

His eyes open and he squints against the light.

I smile at him. "Good, that's good, okay...um..."

He looks up at me. "Am I dead?"

"Nope," I say. He looks like he's pretty darn close though. He winces then. I take his hand, and all of the sudden it's like I'm holding Lily's again. "Scale of one to ten?"

He speaks through gritted teeth. "Ten."

"Okay", I grasp at something more to say. "Well, at least it's not eleven."

Daniel speaks up behind me. "He's losing too much blood, we need to cauterize it." I turn to face him; Realization dawning on me.

I turn back to Eli. "This is gonna hurt a lot, but I need you to push through it, okay? Can you handle that?"

He gives a quick nod.

I take a deep breath, put my hand over his bleeding side, and force heat into his skin. He stiffens and clenches his jaw, but makes no sound.

When I'm done, he sags to the ground. I rush into the kitchen, grab some cloths, and run them under cold water. Then I run back and place them on his neck, side, and forehead.

He's asleep now, and although Daniel has assured me he'll be fine now, I refuse to leave his side; I just can't. I'm wide awake for what must've been hours, but when night falls, I can evade sleep no longer.

Daniel Nitram

I had helped move Eli to one of the guest rooms after the bleeding had stopped I offered Em a separate guest room but she refused to leave Eli's side. I went to check on them and found Em asleep in the chair next to Eli I threw a quilt over her before going back to my front room. I sat in a seat and let out a long sigh running my fingers through my hair. Eli was a truly amazing example of a rune bearer in all reality I expected him to die even if he was able to save Em. But his runes had helped keep him safe, I was also really lucky to have some demon wound cleanser. It was on my list of things I seldom had need for but kept in supply. He should have bled out from the wound but with the cleanser and Em cauterizing the wound he was safe.

I sat there exhausted and stared up at the ceiling, I began to feel my phone ring suddenly my Johnathan ringtone began to play. He didn't call me much we usually would just walk to the others house without calling. I answered the phone and Jonathan came through panting and speaking gibberish. "Johnathan calm down what's wrong?"

"Akiza's hurt bad I don't really know what happened. She was helping me practice my powers and then I don't know something went wrong. There's was the boom of thunder and knives and she's cut up bad." He was breathing heavy I could tell he was panicking.

"Johnathan stay calm I'll be there in a second." I ran to my kitchen and grab my medical slaps. I found my medical potions for usual wounds and grabbed bandages, and suplies for stitching wounds. After gathering supplies I left a note for Em and Eli and rushed to Akiza's. I arrived and found the door unlocked Johnathan was next to the couch and Akiza seemed to be fading fast. I ran to her side collapsing to my knees next to her seeing her wounds, and the knives sticking out. I looked at each wound and felt a hand on my head playing with my hair.

"About time you showed up tiger." She sounded weak but she was smiling at me. Damn it even when she had knives sticking out of her and blood all around she could still smile and allay my fears. I felt confidence in myself welling up I knew it was her not my own self-confidence but I would take what I could.

I looked in to her eyes, "sweetie this is going to hurt I'm sorry but it's my method." I grabbed one of the knives and the bottle from my backpack. I grabbed the knife with one hand pulling it out in one depth move before uncorking the bottle and slowly pouring it on the wound. The purpose of the liquid was to heal internal damage numb the area and stop the bleeding. I quickly sewed the wound and bandaged it. I moved swiftly doing the same to the rest of her wounds. I turned to Johnathan and threw him another bottle from my backpack. "Drink up buddy it'll calm you down."

Johnathan sipped at it gingerly, "what is this it's warm and smooth it's like hot chocolate." I nodded at him and checked on Akiza she smiled at me and brushed her hand across my cheek. "Daniel what is this I feel so at peace."

"It's a potion my creator was a witch and when I had that flash back I found how to make potions of different types in my memory. Apparently before I lost my memory I had stocked up on potions and when I had that flashback I learned how to identify them. Specifically that one is a mood modifier it taste like what ever comforted you as a child." Johnathan seemed genuinely happy and I knew that would help out Akiza. I let out a sigh I was so intensely tired I thought I would pass out there. "Johnathan I'm going to take Akiza to her bed. I can call for you a ride but I'm not leaving Akiza." I began carrying her up the stairs and then turned to look over my shoulder, "oh and I don't know how you were involved but I don't blame you."

Being cut up by knives didn't feel very nice. It hurts. So you can imagine my mood sitting here with three knives stuck in my body. Jonathan sat me down on the couch and called Daniel in a panic.

"Jonathan, calm down" I sighed, wishing I hadn't. "I'm fine really. I've had worse happen."

He look at me, his eyes wide in disbelief. "This had happened before?"

"Well, not exactly like this, but yes." I try to shrug, not quite pulling it off.

"Daniel!" Jonathan said.

I put a hand over my head and and shook it. The man was in the middle of a full blown panic attack. Ugh.

"Akiza's hurt bad I don't really know what happened. She was helping me practice my powers and then I don't know something went wrong. There's was the boom of thunder and knives and she's cut up bad." He was breathing heavy.

Dear lord. I reached over to pull the knife in my arm out, when Jonathan spoke. "What are you doing?"

"Pulling out these knives," I answer.

Jonathan runs over and grabs my hand. "Are you crazy?!"

"It's not like they hit any vital organs, and they're getting on my nerves." I steel myself and begin to pull the first one out, when Daniel came rushing in.

Blood and sweat were practically dripping from my body. I was in a lot more pain then anyone would guess. "About time you showed up tiger."

Daniel didn't have to show his fear for me to know it was there. I touched his cheek, calming his nerves and giving him self confidence. He looked at me. "Sweetie, this is going to hurt. I'm sorry, but it's my method."

Daniel grabbed one of the knives and the bottle from my backpack. He grabbed the knife with one hand pulling it out in one depth move before uncorking the bottle and slowly pouring it on the wound. Ooohh....Floaty.

He quickly sewed the wound and bandaged it, then moved swiftly, doing the same to the rest of mt stab wounds. He turned to Johnathan and threw him another bottle from my backpack. "Drink up buddy it'll calm you down."

Johnathan sipped at it gingerly, "what is this it's warm and smooth it's like hot chocolate."

I brushed my hand across his cheek. "Daniel, what is this? I feel so at peace."

"It's a potion. My creator was a witch and when I had that flash back, I found how to make potions of different types in my memory. Apparently, before I lost my memory, I had stocked up on potions, and when I had that flashback, I learned how to identify them. Specifically that one is a mood modifier it taste like what ever comforted you as a child." he answered.

I could feel Jonathan's Happiness bouncing off of the walls. It took away some of the pain I was in. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Johnathan I'm going to take Akiza to her bed. I can call for you a ride but I'm not leaving Akiza." he said.

As he made his way up the stairs with me in his arms, he turned to look over his shoulder, "Oh and I don't know how you were involved but I don't blame you."

I fell from consciousness before he took another step.

*****************************

I woke up to the sound of Daniel's heartbeat and his arms wrapped around me. I was laying across his chest with an arms around him. Unwrapping myself from his arms, I slowly slid myself to the end of my bed and winced as I stood up and looked down to survey the damage. My clothes were in tatters. Aw. I like this out fit. With a sigh, I walked into my bathroom only ten feet away from my bed, closed the door, and ripped off my bloody tattered clothes. I looked over my stab wounds to find them mostly healed. They were still red and ragged looking, still sore, but mostly closed. This was the fastest i'd ever healed. I must have been picking up on Daniel's feelings while I was asleep. What a sweet heart. Seeing as how I was too sore to take a shower, I settled for taking a bath.

I looked at the clock I kept on the counter. It was later then I thought. One O'clock in the morning. I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed a few candles. Clary sage and orange scented to help relax me and help with the pain. You would think they were an odd combination, but it actually smelled quite nice. I lit a few candles before putting my hair up and easing myself into the hot water. It felt wonderful on my aching body. I gingerly cleaned myself, mindful of how sensitive it was at the moment. When I finished, I closed my eyes and leaned back, breathing in the scent of the candles. Reaching back to pull the clip from my hair, it fell out around the edge of the tub. It had grown quite a bit the last few months, and I had meant to trim it, but never really got around to it.

I was just beginning to doze off, the sound of shuffling sheets snapped me out of it. I'd left the door open, so it wouldn't really take much of anything to guess where I was.

"Akiza?" came Daniel's voice.

"I'm in the bathroom," I called.

His footsteps weren't as discernible because he wasn't wearing his shoes, but I could here his feet as he padded the ten feet and stopped at the entrance of the bathroom, his eyes wide in shock. I turned my head to look at him. "Hey sleepy head."

"Hey." he blinked and shook his head. "How are you feeling?"

"Better than I did earlier. That's for sure." I smiled lazily at him.

"Good," he swallowed. "Um..."

His unease made me smile at him, but his beautiful dark grey eyes scanning the tub said another story. Hm. I lifted a leg out of the water and out it over the other one.

"Never seen a woman in a bath tub before?" I raise an eyebrow.

"I just wasn't expecting to find you like this." he cleared his throat and looked away.

"Mm," I nodded. "Will you hand me a towel? I'm getting out."

*************************************

A few minutes later, I came out of the bathroom feeling completely relaxed. All of the candles were blown out and put up before I headed back to my bed where Daniel was lounging. I had put on a black silk night gown for the simple reason of how soothing it felt against my skin. It didn't rub against it, and it also breathed. As I crawled onto the bed towards him, I could've sworn his eyes had glowed, for just a moment. He held his hand out to me as I came over to him. I laid my head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around me. The sound of his heartbeat was such a lovely thing to listen to.

"So," I looked up at him. "let's talk about something. I don't want to go to bed yet."
"What is dead my never die, but rises again, larger and stronger..."

Silas---Saturday Morning, at the old church

Silas prodded through the charred remains of the old church with his cane. He moved slowly, the gray ash drifting up as he walked through it, blending in with the dark haze of early dawn. October was now in full sway. The rains had for the most part stopped drowning the earth, leaving the town with a dry, bitter cold instead.

Blackened beams crisscrossed all over the ground, no one had bothered to call a cleanup crew. Silas thought of all that had gone wrong since the night the church had burned down, and his hand clenched on the silver top of his cane.

Silas found the general area where the altar one would have been. Between the shingles and some of the fallen wreckage from the roof, Silas found it. He kicked aside a small board and there it lay, a small gold broach. His jacket had been missing it for a month now. Silas pinned it back to his collar with a quiet grin of satisfaction.

Medusa’s coils tensed beneath his jacket, someone was here. Silas turned to head back, and as he approached the gate in the newly erected chain link fence he came across the new young man working for the Investigation office. What had been his name? Cole, that was it.

Cole leaned against a fence post, arms crossed over his chest in impudent apathy.

“So, how about those kids?” he asked. “Pretty impressive for a group of dysfunctional paranormals, wouldn’t you say?” Silas stopped and placed both hands on the cane in front of him.

“Perhaps.” Silas said with a half smile. “Or maybe the only reason for their success is the incompetence of those hired to observe them.” Cole’s face darkened. “You let them get away with too much.”

“That’s Dakota’s problem, I work for my own interest.” Cole said, brushing his fingers against his shoulder. “And what about you? That Angel guy or whatever is causing a ruckus all over the place… isn’t more harm than help?”

“Angel is… no longer to be trusted.” Silas said. “His mind has been compromised… You of all people should know that.”

“What.” It wasn’t a question, it was a darkly stated threat.

“Although I am curious,” Silas continued. “Why such a powerful supernatural such as yourself, one who has mastered telepathy, would choose to come to this inconsequential town.”

“It’s none of your business.” Cole said. “I have my own reasons.”

“Of course, as do I.” Silas said. “The Silver Bullet Club means nothing to me now---they could have served a purpose but in the end were far too troublesome to bother.”

“And your point---“ Cole started. Silas smiled to himself. As soon as he had seen Cole he had been on guard, carefully and purposefully causing his thoughts to become disarrayed and unreadable, he had kept Cole guessing for the entire conversation. If Cole had been reading his mind in the first place, that is. If he had he would have been treated to quite some gruesome pictures of his own body being dismembered and devoured by snakes.

“The Silver Bullet Club, whatever it was once, is now only a nuisance. I plan to eradicate them.”

“Oh, and how, exactly. Considering your son is not to be trusted anymore…”

“He is not my son.” Silas said coldly, and his hands tightened on his cane.

“My bad.” Cole said with half masked amusement. Silas studied him for a moment, then turned away suddenly and headed towards the gate.

“There is to be a concert on Friday night, Daniel---the immortal, will be there. I expect his friends will be accompanying him. I also expect you… and that young lady, to be there as well.” He said as he walked away.

“Of course.” Cole said, but Silas only read smug arrogance in his voice. “Oh, and by the way, we’re going to be teaching some classes at the school starting Monday.” He said. Silas stopped.

“How did you manage that?” he asked.

“I have my ways… anyways, I figured you’d probably want to know, old man.”

“Of course.” Silas said. “Interesting.” He murmured to himself. Medusa sensed his sudden excitement and curled her tail around his arm animatedly. Silas left the remains of the church behind with a smirk across his face.
“Most interesting indeed.”

Spoiler
If you are offended by this, then let me know. I'm kind of grasping at straws with this post, and if any characters, then let me know that as well.

Coming awake to the sound of flutes is what i'd call a good morning. I got up and out on a sports bra with a pair of dry fit running shorts before grabbing my Ipod and strapping it to my arm. I didn't have to look at my alarm clock to know what time it was. Five in the morning was the time I usually got up to go for a run. I'd gone scouting around the neighborhood when I had free time and spotted a trail a few block out by the entrance. I grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge before heading out, when I stop short at the sight of something catching the light. I smile as I walk over to the end table by the front door and picked up the set of Keys and the note beside it.

I thought you might need these

-M

I grasped the Keys as I headed to ward the garage. Turning on the light, I recognized my beautiful deep Purple Plum charger, lying there, just waiting to be taken for a spin. The car roared to life as I started it. Music to my ears.

***************************************

After my run along the trail, I took a shower and brushd my teeth. By the time I came down stairs, Mom and Axel were already downstairs. The smell of bacon, eggs, and sausage. My stomach growled angrily as I sat down. She sat a plate in front of me with a smile. "Eat up Don't want you slacking n her first day of school."

I dug in without another word. Mom sat a glass of Milk in front of me and motioned at it. I drank without a word and finished eating. When I saw the time on the stove, I kicked it into high gear. "C'mon Axel. We need to go!"

******************************

I pulled the key out of the ignition as I opened the door and stepped out. I looked around. The schools wasn't as small as I thought it would be, but still small. Axel handed me my bag as we made our way across the springy grass. I didn't have to lower my shades and look around to know people were staring. I caught the door as someone came out and pushed it open to step inside behind Axel. People watched as we walked through the halls, whispering. I honestly didn't expect it to be like this, but no. Just great.

"I'll catch up with you later." Axel touched my arm. "I need to find a rest room."

"Alright, but where's the office?" I look around.

"Take a left down that hallway and it's the first door on your left," he informed.

I nodded and headed off. When I came upon the office and walked in, I spotted and older woman sitting behind her desk. She was a little on the heavy side, with graying Blonde hair. She smiled warmly at me. "Hello. I'm Shelly. You must be new in town. I've never seen you around."

"That would be me." I nod with a small smile. "I came to pick up mine and my brother's schedule."

"Name please?" her finger posed on the key board.

"Axel and Akiza Silverback." I answer.

Her fingers flashed across the Keyboard, there was mouse clicking, and then she had the schedules in my hand. "Have your teachers sign them and bring them back at the end of the day."

"Thank you." I took my leave.

On my way out, I run into someone and drop both schedule. "Oh!"

"I'm so sorry," came a familiar voice.

I look up and smile before wrapping my arms around Daniel. His body was so warm and inviting, I couldn't help but bury my face in his neck. "Hi."

He kissed the side of my head. "Hi."

Daniel pulls away and picks up the schedules before handing them to me. "I thought you wouldn't be starting school until next week?"

"I'm sorry," I tucked a lock of hair behind my Ear. "I thought I told you."

"You're forgiven." he leaned over and kissed my cheek.

He looks at my schedule with as mile. "We have the same course classes, but our electives are different."

I smiled. That was good to hear.

***************

At lunch time, Daniel and I spotted Sam and sat down beside her. She smiled at us. "Hey guys. Andrea went to grab a few drinks, but she'll be back soon."

I nodded but said nothing. I stood up to stretch just before a hand clamped down on my shoulder, and I reacted instantly. I grabbed the hand before turning and twist his wrist behind his back, shoving his face into the table before I realized it was Axel. I sighed. "Axel you idiot! You know I don't like it when people do that!"

"Yea," he responded, his voice muffled by the table. "I forgot."

"Well next time it could be a snapped neck, so try to remember that." I pulled away and sat back down. "And i'm sorry."

Axel kissed me on the cheek. "You're forgien little sister."

"By like, one second." I stated. "You were in my way outside of Mom, so I decided to give you a little push."

He grinned as he sat down next to me. "Should've moved faster."

I rolled my eyes at him and scooted closer to lay on Daniel's shoulder and feel his energy hover around both of us. It was vibrant and welcoming. Soothing. I was just about to fall asleep when I heard-

"Andrea! Daniel, Akiza, and her brother Axel are sitting wth us!"

I groaned inwardly and pushed my shades up on my nose before sitting straight. Andrea sat a drink down in front of Sam, and she leaned over and Andrea on the cheek with a soft smile. "Thanks."

Andrea blushed, but said nothing. My eyes slid toward Axel, who was stared bacj with his eyebrows raised. I shrugged. Just as I tuck a lock of hair behind my ear, cold water hits my chest sinking into my skin and causing goose bumps to rise. I go completely still in shock. The bra I have on underneath begins to show through as the tight white tank i'm wearing stick to my skin. Daniel grabbed a napkin and tried to dry my shirt. What a sweetheart.

"Oooohh!!" two guys behind Andrea and Sam laugh out loud. "You hit the wrong chick!"

"What the hell is you problem!?" Axel snaps.

"We were aiming for the homos." one guys snickers.

I rolled my eyes. "Wow. That's mature."

"But I guess it worked out for the best." on of the guys stood up and leaned on the table we were at to look at my chest. "I got a great view."

Axel was up and around the table in less then a blink. "Watch your mouth. That's my sister you're talking about."

"Why don't you take a step back?" the other guy came up.

I looked at the letterman they were wearing. Football. What a surprise. Axel smirked."You guys play Football?"

"What of it?" one of them asked.

"It explains the bad aim." Andrea said. "They're on Jv."

"That does explain a lot." I kiss Daniel's hand and smile at him before standing up."Guys on Jv have no skill."

"How bout' I show you some skill in the back of my Car?" one smirked.

Daniel had him by the front of his jacket. The wave of Anger coming from him stole my breath away and almost knocked me on my feet. It went completely quiet in the lunch room as they saw Daniel dangling the guy his feet. He pulled down to eye leve and said, "Take it back. Now."

"Why don't you take your hands off of him?" the other guy steps forward, but Axel blocks his path.

"Daniel," I moved forward and touch his arm. "calm down."

"Not until he takes it back." he kept his eyes trained on the person suspended in air.

I squeezed his arm as I pulled off my shades and stared into his eyes as I repeated myself. "Calm. Down."

He stared back for a moment, trying to reel in his anger. I placed a hand on his chest and repeated again, "Calm. Down."

Slowly but surely, he let go of the idiot in his hands before stepping back. I turned toward the now pissed off football player and said, "Leave."

"Who the hell do you think you're talking to?" he stepped forward.

I turned to face him. He stumbled back a step when he saw my eyes through my bangs. I took a step foward. "Is something wrong?"

"S-stay away!" he stumbled back another step.

"Is something wrong?" I taunted.

He lost his footing and fell back against the table he had been sitting at, but said nothing. He could feel the fear pouring off of him like a waterfall and smiled. "Are you afraid?"

"Kiki," Axel's voice floated to my ears. "Stop."

"Are you sorry you can't except people for who they are because you hate your life? Or are you over compensating? Which is it?" I pushed.

"Akiza!" Daniel grabbed my arm. "Calm down."

I turned and gave him a hard stare before stepping back and putting on my shade, then grabbed my backpack, and took my leave.

"Akiza!" Daniel called, but I didn't stop.

What the hell had happened? Every emotion in that room had effected me, and I hadn't even realized it. Daniel's anger. Axel's intensely pissed off state. Sam's shock. I shuffled a hand through my hair just as I reached car.

"What the hell was that?"

I turned to see Andrea heading my way. Ugh. Just what I need. "I don't have time for what ever you have to say to me."

She slams my door closed before I open it all the way, and I turn to look at her.

"Well, make time." she said.

I sigh as I lean against my car and look at her. "You've got thirty seconds. Talk."

"You were completely irresponsible in there, using your ability so carelessly." she said. "And-"

"What in the world are you talking about?" I push away from the car.

"Using your ability to intimidate like that is unacceptable." she glared. "You have no right to use the ability given to you."

"Ok. Let me get this straight," I laughed at her, which she didn't like very much. "You think i'm using my ability to make those two idiots fear me?"

Was she high on something? How the hell woud she know how I ise my ability? She doesn't even know me! She has no right to make an assumption like that.

"I know you are." she snapped. "You-"

"I what?" I interrupted. "How would you know if I were using my ability? I know why, beucause you don't. I don't need to use my power to get what needs to be done, done."

"Oh really? Because that's not what I just saw." she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Don't jump to conclusions like you know, because you don't." I remark.

"I'm not, in fact, ever since you arrived in town you've only caused trouble, your irresponisble. You need to grow up, or sooner or later, your brother won't be able to protect you from Angel. You won't be able to protect yourself, look at me, look at my cast, that's what Angel did with a single swat. What will he do to you if you decide to put up a fight?" she said.

"Just because you weren't able to protect yourself, doesn't mean I won't. I'm not you. And I also want you to explain to me how i've been irresponsible." She was giving me a headache.

"Yeah, I'm giving you a headache, if you didn't notice we have rules in the club. Under no circumstances are you to use your abilities unless it's a life or death situation. What you did back there was bullying, because you know you have power, where they don't." She said.

I pushed away my headache and rebuilt the wall around my mind. I could never keep anything straight when I had headaches. "First of all, if you knew me, which you don't, you'd know that I wouldn't use my powers unless I thought it was neccssary. I hate bullying, and you implying that I would really pisses me off, and I almost never get pissed off."

"Then explain what was that back there?! you used your power over emotions to insert fear into them, where normally they would have nothing to fear other than seeing stars!" Andrea said.

"That was all me!" I snapped. "I have the kind of personality, and my height usually has most guys steering clear of me. Some people find me intimidating, and it's not because of my power, honey."

Then Daniel made his way past the door. He could see the tension between me and Andrea, he put a hand on her shoulder and mine. "That's enough, we can settle whatever is going on after school," Daniel said calmly.

Andrea shot me a glare, "we'll finish this later," she had said with her stare.

I was surpised that my glowing eyes didn't burn a hole through my shades, though I doubt anyone could even see them. These shades were tinted so dark, I couldn't even see them in the mirror. I took a deep breath and threw a hand through my hair, but mt breathing didn't calm. What the hell was wrong with me?

"Hey," Daniel pulled me into his arms. "I'm right her."

He kisses me on my head, and I finally feel myself relax. "I'm fine, thank you."

Dakota | Teaching Geography

Dakota was not yet accustomed to the idea of teaching a class of students about... anything. While she had spent much of her life in study and contemplation, it had never crossed her mind to pass those lessons she had learned on to others. She wasn't feeling exactly thrilled about the idea now...

"You're wearing that?" Cole came bounding into the kitchen with an incredulous expression on his face. Dakota looked down at her heavy, customised boots with the purple laces and the pearl-rimmed hem. Her dress was a blue chiffon and adorned with a similar ring of pearls around the neckline and sleeves, then a belt about her middle with small, stuck on buttons and colourful shapes. To top it all off, she wore a customised black, leather jacket; her favourite. There was a pair of bright red dice super-glued to the shoulder and tipped on an angle to show double ones: snake eyes. Then down both sides at the front, instead of there being buttons to fasten it together, the jacket was adorned with a row of beads and plastic objects in all shapes and colours.

"Yes. I am," Dakota told him in a certain tone. Cole threw his hands up in surrender and laughed.

"Well, whatever. We'd better get going."

With a nod, Dakota grabbed her bag and her car keys and they drove to the school in a measured silence, each caught up in their own thoughts. Dakota was worried. She couldn't place her finger on what it was, but she knew it had less to do with teaching and more to do with the supernatural kids...

________________________________

"Hello class." Dakota closed the door behind the last of the students and walked briskly to the front of the room. "I know this is unorthodox, but I shall be taking over as your new Geography teacher." This was the part where most would have smiled, but Dakota instead swept her eyes across the room and gazed at her students for a moment too long. She became lost in the sea of faces, learning them, committing them to a memory bank that had long since forgotten so many children could be grouped into a single space.

After a moment the brunette came to her senses and walked to stand behind her desk. "If one of you will tell me how far through the text book you are-" A copy had kindly been provided and that morning Dakota had immersed herself within its pages. If she was going to teach these children, she first needed to learn herself, but she had always been a fast learner.
