Hi Maddy and welcome to YWS! I saw that you posted something, so you obviously have a few things figured out. Basically, to review works, go to the Literary tab and read what suits your fancy. You get points for giving reviews, which you then spend on submitting your pieces on the Submit tab. In the Forums, you can find information on the site (Information Desk), participate in general conversation (The Lounge, Randomness), pick up tips on writing (Writing Tips, Writers Corner, Knowledge Base), and other fun things. On the "People" tab, you can see the status updates of people you follow. Follow people by clicking on their profile and click "Follow User". Storybooks are basically RPG, and you can check that out if you're interested. On Weblogs, you can read other blogs and make your own.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask one of the nice shiny green-coloured peeps! They're the JM's - Junior Moderators - and they're all lovely, I promise! Only two of them are evil, which is a pretty good ratio! Try guessing which one it is, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, haha.

If you have concerns, or want to report an issue, you can PM the JMs, or the dark green moderators, or the ominously red administrators. The coloured names are volunteer staff members on the site, and they're full of wisdom and possibly lollies.

Yay, hi, Maddy! Left a review on the piece you posted, so I'm glad you also found the welcome forum. As Jiggity said, you wanna look for pretty colored people if you have many questions about the site. We'll help you out lots, I promise!
BASICALLY, YWS is a site for reviewing writing. Members can submit (you see the submit up at the top of the page), and then you can explore the literary forums to leave reviews on other members' pieces. You can tell them what you liked or didn't like about their piece, what confused you, and be sure to give them some constructive criticism. For the rest of the forums, I'd say exploring would be the best way to figure out what's happening. We have SO MANY nooks to explore, that I don't want to just lay them all out for you, but niteowl's right: you can find writing tips under similarly named forums, and hang out in the Lounge.
Now that that's out of the way, I've only seen a piece of poetry from you. Do you also write prose? And who is your favorite author?

I see the other peeps have filled you in pretty well, Maddy, but I felt the need to say hello, too. I'm Cas and I'm a mentor, here for your usage as YWS Google and reviewer if you so need me. I'll try my best to be boss. I can also pose as a fair Encyclopedia Weird and Voice of Reason, but those things aren't technically in my job description. Even if I'm not your cup of tea (which is perfectly acceptable), there's a bunch of lovely other people who could help you out that may have blue usernames just like yourself. In other news, I can understand your pain. I have so many half-finished books it isn't even funny. Then again, I read multiple books at the same time... I think our brains are just more confusing, but in a splendid way. By the way, I review novels, so if you want me to take a crack at one of your WIPs, I'd do it gladly.
