Hi, my name is Devon. You can, of course, refer to me by my username if you so chose. I am new to Young Writers hence why I wiping my ol'feet on the Welcome Mat. I have been on a few sites like this before, but none were very good at all. I hope this one works out!

I adore creative writing specifically in the science fiction and fantasy genre. My dream, though lofty, is to write the next Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and/or A Song of Ice and Fire series. Hey, they DO say go big or go home, right?

Glad to meet you all! I look forward to all our future discussions!

Hey Devon/Paradox!

Welcome to YWS. And I'm pretty much sure that this is going to be the best site you've ever landed on. We're just an awesome bunch of people, to be honest. :3

I like reading Sci-Fic and Fantasy genre but sometimes I just go sad thinking that I don't have what it takes to write a story in any of these genres. Frankly, I like Sci-Fic but I haven't gotten around reading much in it. But I hope to change things.

The one thing about my reading is that I don't stick to one particular genre and when you go through my book collection, each one is different from the other. What kind of books do you like reading-HP, LOTR kind?

What are you currently working on-writing wise, that is? :)

Thank you! Glad to be here!

I bet you could write something Sci-Fi if you wanted to. A few hours of watching the Sy-Fy channel (or any other channel of that ilk) should do ya'.

My book collection is pretty varied myself, but it is mostly Sci-Fi and Fantasy with a sprinkle of Historical Fiction and WWII books; I'm a history buff. So yeah, those are the kind of books I like. Right now I am tackling Summer Reading, but I want to start reading Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan Trilogy, an easy read by far, but it is both slightly (OK not really) historical and also pretty Sci-Fi steampunk.

Writing wise, I am currently working on structuring and outlining my first ever novel called Panacea. At its core it is your standard fantasy novel (crazy creatures, big swords, etc.), but I am trying to inject some sci-fi, war, and deeper motifs and themes. Also, I am trying to give it that spice of something new so it WON'T be just another fantasy novel on the shelf. Aaaand, that is about it. I am kind of stuck/anxious to move forward.

Hiho, Devon!

Welcome (albeit, a little late) to YWS!

Sci-Fi is wonderful!Do let me know if you need any reviews in that genre. I love sci-fi experiments.
And yes, Historical fics are just as amazing.

Aha, I know what you mean about giving it more. I've been playing with some ideas recently, so let's see where that goes.

How's YWS treating you, so far?
Hope to see you around the forums/chat soon.

Cheers,
Lava
