Helloooooooooo everybody!
My name is Nick Clood and welcome, to the Young Writers Show.

Tonight we have special guest, EmmVeePi, but firstly, let’s get into the news!

Today, Prince Charles has overtaken Prince William as preferred successor of their Grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. While this is all gobbledegook for you uncommonwealthians, it’s still exciting to know we might see the two brothers fighting it out to the death over who will reign, awesome!

In other news, US President Barack Obama has written an excuse note to a young boy’s teacher for being absent. The boy went to see BO speak at Honeywell Golden Valley facilities in some state than I don’t know because I’m not from the US. Moving on! The boy says he hopes the note will let him brag. Typical. Meet BO. All you can think too do is brag!

Researchers are trying to unlock the secrets too living past 110. They are hoping to figure out how you can drink, smoke and eat chocolate and still live till 122. Hopefully the results are good and in the meantime, let’s partaaay!

At what age did you start to write?
Well I suppose this is a bit of a multi layered question but I would have to say I started writing fiction for my own pleasure at nine or ten. My first story that I can remember was about a child(probably the same age as me at the time) who was excellent at playing laser tag and was recruited by the CIA for a special mission. After all what nine year old doesn’t wanna be a secret agent?

Have you released any new work lately?
I wrote the short A Heroin Laced Love Story and posted it on YWS. It is I think rather hard hitting on the emotional level. I hope it inspires a lot of thought and questions and maybe even a few answers in my readers.

At What age did you join YWS?
Seventeen. Now I am twenty one. I guess it has been a while.

Who is the person who helped you the most when you joined?
Mars, Incognito, Moriah Leila. Pretty much everyone I guess. This place has always given me the support I have needed. And some of the members have given me the kind of criticism that I know can only come from a place of love.

Who do you look up to on YWS? Who do you look up to off YWS?
I look up to anyone on YWS who is willing to tell others what they don’t want to hear. That can be one of the most uncomfortable and unpleasant things to do but if it wasn’t for the people who are putting themselves out there like that we'd never get any better as authors.
Off of YWS I look most up to three people. None of them living, I don’t know what that says about me, I'm old school I guess. Charles Dickens, John Wayne, and Johnny Cash have all three influenced me immensely both as a person and as a writer.
Dickens ability to confront his current society and call it out and not be afraid to do so led to a lot of positive changes in England and I hope my writing can do something like that here in America.
John Wayne really embodied, in most his roles, everything that is good and right in us as humans. Were his characters perfect? Never. But almost always he appeared on screen striving to do the best he could in whatever situation he found himself in.
And the beautifully complex Johnny Cash undoubtedly changed the world forever. Never has an artist in history been so good and so evil, so light and so dark, so confused yet knowing exactly what he was doing.

Whats your favorite pastime?
Well I wish I had some really exciting, cool pastimes, but I really don’t. I am a writer who is stuck working a real job. I work and I sleep and when I'm not doing those two necessary evils I am writing.

Now can we hear maybe an excerpt from your latest novel?
Well I don’t really write novels. I have written hundreds of pages for dozens of novels but after spending years and never completing one I threw in the towel to ADD and focus all my energies on shorts these days. One I have been working on lately is childrens rhyming book. I am actually planning on making it a series with drafts of the first two installments complete and some scheming going on for the third book in THE RATHER ODD ADVENTURES OF DAISY series. Here is an excerpt.

A strange conversation it seemed to the girl, she could not take it, the room seemed to whirl. “Stop it please, stop it now, I'm going crazy, I don't know how.”

“No you’re not sweet young child, your brain is fine, it’s we who are wild. The dishes are we who make this ruckus, the voices you hear are merely us.”

What confusion Daisy felt, all she knew, it seemed to melt. Dishes made by human hands, they spoke to her, the pots and pans. “How is it you speak to me, how is it your tongues are free? Plates and bowls and forks of tin, dirty dishes make not a din.”

What’s been going on?
Well, over in the Browse section, a big stack of stories has been dumped, so it’s time to get reviewing! In the Lounge, a special Review Day event is starting tomorrow! Randomosity has been flooded with “...The user above/below you threads” and in the Serious Discussion area you can discuss whether Santa exists, if Zombies exist and talk about Female Presidents (It’s not really a discussion, it’s just sitting there). In the SB section, there’s not a lot of SBs accepting, but there a lot of Fantasy ones underway. There has also been a new one named ‘Masterchef’ out.
