hi yws <3
it's been awhile since i was seriously active on here, but i've recently been bitten by the #NaNo bug like i usually am this time of year, and just had to pop on by while it was on my mind. still settling on a novel idea right now, but right now i keep feeling the VERY strong urge to somehow rewrite my seventh grade self-insert novel.
no matter what, i have a feeling this will be the #NaNo with me being way more true to me, either with a slightly gender funky protagonist or a platonic love story between a girl MC and a boy MC.
Dossereana So glad to see you back Mage!!!!!!!! <333333

Also, #NaNo ended a bit underwhelmingly for me since I got the plague and didn't even manage to break 10k for the month. But! I have been in a massive ditch regarding my novel literally all year and I think??? I may be getting past that???
Like, I wrote Chapter 1 in March (2,864 words). I finished Chapter 2 in September (4,203 words). And otherwise hadn't touched my novel at all literally all year.
But now I've got Chapters 1 - 5 of #AtD written and relatively polished, and am up to 18,025 words! And am feeling really stoked about that fact
Liminality Oh nice! It always feels great getting past a block of some kind!

Though I did not reach my goal of 50,000 words this month, I did manage to exceed ten thousand! I've had this idea in my head for such a long time, it feels so good to finally get it on paper. (Even if it's a lot of word vomit!) All in all, I'm pretty proud of myself!
And while November may be over now, I don't plan to stop writing! #nano has been a great catalyst to get things started, but I'd really like to see this thing through!
Spearmint CONGRATS, Horisun!! =DD 10K is a ton, and I’m glad NaNo helped motivate you to get things started !!

Liminality Congrats on 10K!! Getting an idea down is super valuable. All the best in pursuing your new goals!

I unfortunately wasn't able to do #NaNo in the way I intended to this year, but I did knock out some major school assignments, write a 18,414 word Raven Cycle/Dreamer Trilogy fanfiction and write a scary amount of finished roleplays with a friend off of YWS, so....count your wins and not your losses? I'm lowkey terrified to find out how many words we wrote combined in all of those rps.
Liminality Wow that sounds awesome! An 18k+ fanfiction is big, too! Congrats!

Whether you're finishing your wordcount for the 30th day of NaNo, or if you haven't started yet, or if you haven't been writing for the past week, etc. feel free to share your thoughts on this November's writing! It can be anything from what you've learned, what you enjoyed most or what you wished you'd done or known. Either way, it's time to celebrate another year's attempt at NaNo! I've surprised myself this month and managed to complete #nano with 50,000 words! My original goal was 25k! After getting 15k last year for NaNo I wasn't sure how this year would turn out but I'm SO happy with myself. My draft is still no where near complete though... LOL. I'm thinking about giving myself a few weeks-a month break and hopefully continuing it to the finish line!

This year has been a pretty unusual #NaNo for me! I started off trying to write 50,000 words of non-fiction. When my pre-NaNo prep did not go as planned, and after a few days had passed, I realised I would need to change my goal to something more doable, so I started tracking daily wordcounts and pages of research notes instead. In the last week of NaNo, I worked on a short story, completely deviating from my initial project.
I think this experience has helped me get a realistic understanding of how quickly I can research something while still doing it well. I'm pretty happy with the article drafts I got out of this, though they still need plenty of editing. (Also, NaNo as an event is very much geared to writing fiction!)
Another highlight of NaNo for me was of course the community! Getting comments on my thread definitely helped keep me accountable because I knew people were watching, and it motivated me to work through my research and drafting on quite a few days where it felt like even one page was impossible. I was also inspired following everyone's threads and seeing everyone create their projects. So a big shoutout to all fellow NaNo-ers!

I can't believe #Nano is almost over already. Time is kinda odd, lol. I'm pretty proud of my progress, I've written a total of 11,881 words this month, might write more during the remaining days, we'll see!
As for LMS, I wrote 1,051 words this week! I'm genuinely a little concerned, because I'm already halfway through what I have outlined, lol.

Day 26 of #NaNo
Word Total: 4133
Overall Total: 50251
So, I made it!? Four days early!? I will be trying my best to figure out a short little end to it, even if it's mostly {something happens here} and "THE END".
I have no idea if Dreamless makes any sense in its current form, but I can say that I completed NaNo for the first time ever and I truly am so grateful I got the chance to try this year.
Now, time to get to the ending, and to maybe read over it again for editing ... eventually ... although I might be getting some friends to read it if they're bored xD
Liminality Hurray! Congratulations!!

These last few days have been fuuun. I also have realized that this novel will probably be longer than just 50k which is actually good probably since the story was going to feel too short. But! It’s been great to keep myself occupied by writing so much (far more than I’ve ever written). Good luck to those working on NaNo still!!

I think going completely pantser this #NaNo has made me realize that while it's fun and very freeing, it's also exhausting because I have to make everything up on the spot and don't have an outline to fall back onto when my brain goes "lol what's a plot"
and I think that's part of why I'm getting a little bit bored of my NaNo project
it just takes too much brain power
so I think once NaNo is done I'm going to leave my project alone for a little while, work on some other stuff that I have more motivation for, and come back to Garden of Zombies in a few months
