Galatians 1:6-12 6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- 7which is really no gospel at all. Pay special attention to verse 8

Why can't I, as a believer and follower of Christ, identify myself as a Christian?

Because your beliefs aren't biblical.

And how are they not biblical? We believe in and read the bible, we believe and follow Christ.

No, it is not a different gospel. It's a record of the people who lived in America during biblical times.
BTW, does your church sing pop songs instead of hymns, or use the 'updated' or 'modern' versions of the bible? If so, your gospel is the most different from biblical times.

What's wrong with modern Christian music? God loves it just as much as the classical hymns. Does God love one more than the other? Also, we do both hymns and modern Christian music. Modern "updates" of the bible do not change or add to it. It simply takes into account several different translations of the bible, including the original fragments of the real recorded bible (such as the Dead Sea Scrolls) and combines them.

Also, why does it matter who lived in America during biblical times??

1. Who are you to say what God loves or doesn't love?
2. The Book of Mormon serves the same purpose as the bible "Who cares what happened in America?" Well, someone may say "who cares what happened in Belthehem 2018 years ago?" America may not have been Jesus's birthplace, but he did appear to the people in the Americas and supposedly to eveyone else.
Remember when he said "I have sheep of another fold?" He was talking about the people in other lands, including the people in the Americas.

3. Is there anything else 'wrong' with our religion to you? Or is it just The Book of Mormon?

BTW: If your view on The Book of Mormon is based off of the musical, it's wrong. The musical was written by two anti-mormons who were poking fun.

I believe and follow Christ
I believe, listen to and CHERISH the bible (and Book of Mormon)
I obey all ten commandments (and the latter-day one, love one another)
And I'm committed to my church so much that on Sundays, I don't go to parties, spots games or the park.

I am also a Mormon (or member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and we do indeed try to follow the Bible. The part where it says that any other word than spoken by God or an angel is still followed by our church. If you read the Book of Mormon, all of the prophets are inspired by God and many of them did in fact see angels or Christ himself. (Alma, Ether, Brother of Jared or mahonri moriancumer, Mormon, Moroni, etc.) It is the same gospel, just in a different place. In fact, the first prophet of our church in the modern days wrote the articles of faith, which summarizes our beliefs. In the 8th article of faith it states, ???We believe the Bible to be the word of God.??? I hope I did not offend anybody, just trying to clarify some things. God loves you!

Well then I am Christian. I apologize if anything I previously said made it sound like you can join God in heaven and be saved through any manner other than through Jesus Christ. I personally believe with all my soul that Jesus and His atonement are the only way to be saved. He is our Savior.

Well, this may not be clear I guess. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints??? official opinion is that there is no other way to be saved than through Christ. I am not sure where you heard otherwise, but as a large church, I am sure that some individuals believe wrongly or are confused. If you want to see my church???s official opinion on things, you can look them up at churchofjesuschrist.org or just type in lds.org and it will automatically come up. I hope you have a good day!

haha, don't mean to be random but do you have like, links or something on the accuracy of the NIV? I hear a lot of people say they don't use it because it's not accurate buuut I don't know...

Basically, the KJV uses archaic language and terminologies that have shifted rather dramatically in meaning from how they were originally understood. The NIV, being more contemporary, does not suffer from this linguistic shift.

If you're aware of all the linguistic differences in the KJV compared to contemporary English, the linguistic shift isn't an issue. However, since most people aren't aware of the linguistic nuances, the NIV is the more accurate when it comes to contemporary English translation.

You see, In other versions they literally take chapters out of the KJV. Some Bibles don't even use the word 'Blood', or 'Satan'. I mean, in my humble opinion, I would want the full and inspired version of God's word and if another bible took something out of the true version I probably be weary of it.

The NJB has more chapters than the KJV, which is one of the reasons why I like it. My favorite book is in the NJB but not most other Bibles, including the KJV (and it isn't the controversial Book of Enoch either).
