Fantasy Fools - Us? (Introduction)

102 posts in this topic.

  1. As previously stated the intent of this usergroup is to develop our imagination, specifically in connection to the reasonably unreasonable - fantasy?

Ah, beyond that sophistry - introduce yourself! If you like, mention what sorts of fantasy you enjoy, and/or write. And anything else applicable... ^_^
  2. I'm here. You can call me MetalHead, MH, or w/e suits you. I like adventure fantasy, dark fantasy, epic, stuff like that.

I look forward to Fantasy Fools here at YWS.
  3. Hi, I'm Ani! I like most types of fantasy, but I mostly write "known-world fantasy". I always add lots of angst and fluffly romance to my fantasy, and I often try to throw in some moral. :D
  4. Hey! I'm Fand. I write sword-and-sorcery fantasy (and that's an almost scarily accurate way to describe it, really) for the most part, but do write contemporary fantasy occasionally - mostly short stories for the latter, and novels (or attempts at them) for the former.
  5. Bjorn here! I, like CL, like anything that is good. So, I don't necessarily check to see whether a particular story is high-fantasy or swords 'n sorcery, has a 932 A.D. or 18th C. feel to it, or even by what author it's from.
I'm writing two fantasy stories at the moment: a story that takes place some centuries after the LotR, a High Fantasy tale, though not so epic in scale, it draws upon a more epic time in the world's history. Besides stories I like writing the occasional poem. Most, if not all, are whimsical. I also have many ideas streaming through my mind most of the time, though I try to conform many of them to a more prevalent idea.
  6. Greetings all!

Myth here. I love fantasy and anything to do with mythology/legends. I usually write dark fantasy or stuff like parallel worlds.

    Fare thee well!
  7. Welcome everyone from TSR...and any new members here. ^_^

Ah, I hope you can all join the Fools' Duel Writing Challenge - I might even. ...other than that, naught else I suppose. We can all be fantastically foolish if we want, and have usergroup name as an excuse. Though writing would be more edifying all around. ^_~
  8. hey there everyone, i'm Sohini.

    HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY to all!!!
  9. Hullo Sohini/Riti. ^_^ 'Glad you made it over. Ah, and of course, good thing you're fond of fools.
  10. Hi! I'm Snoink.

Anyway, though I am technically writing a sci fi at the moment, I've always loved fantasies, especially unicorns! I think they're so sweet and darling. I love to do fantasy storybooks and my next novel planned is called, "The Unicorn Killers." It'll be about a girl who was from our world in the USA but has been magically transported to a completely different land where unicorns are slaughtered frequently. Anyway, I'm trying to finish FREAK so I can work on this project -- it's really awesome.

Also, in the works is a trilogy known as "Swans." Swans is basically a project that I've been working on for my entire life. It's a mythology and it's going to be completely crazy to write. It's partly taken from all the mythology stories I've read and fairy tales. So you'll see several fairy tales intermixed in with a completely strange mythology which is dark and happy and utterly gorgeous as well.

Haha... it's going to be grand.

I generally try to avoid critiquing fantasy stories because a lot of plots are so friggin' cliched, but I suppose being a part of this usergroup will help me.

I tend to write really strange stuff.

And I have a little pig figurine that has an alicorn. :)
  11. Hi all! I'm... slightly late in getting here, but at least I made it!

I'm Dream Deep to those of you who don't know me, or DD or Dream or Dreamy if you prefer. I write mainly surreal fantasy and or dark fantasy. Yay me.

Ummm, the main project for a very long time, as long as I can remember really, has been a trilogy called "The Tower of Souls". It was pretty nifty, lots of reincarnation and lost love and really good characters, but I never got to finish it. My Dad cried over it at one point, I believe - it has a beautiful, heart-rending plot, but I wan't thrilled with the actual writing. That was a while ago, and I think I've improved since I threw it in a box and shoved it under my bead. Got side-tracked. o.o I'd like to go back to it though.

The runner-up is "The Chair of Wind & Darkness", which has a pretty cool theme that technically makes no sense. The world I set it in is a construct of my diseased imagination, but the characters really aren't that different. It's not the story itself but rather the final theme that's so utterly weird... Lol, the power of words taken to a really strange extent.

    ^_^
  12. Welcome Snoink and DD! ...I was sort of waiting for the both of you to show up, at some point. ^_^

Now you've got to enter the Fool's Duel Challenge (soon to be posted) and write more about fantasy and its many intereperetations and ...all that. ^_~
  13. hi, most of you know me already, but I'll repeat my name. I'm Reas
  14. Hi, Reas. ^_^ You're remembered, of course; and welcomed again to the Fantasy Fools.
  15. Hi Everyone,

I'm David Guinness. You may call me mostly whatever you like....We'll see how that goes... :D

I have always enjoyed reading most every form of fantasy literature, especially medieval fantasy works.

My current writing project is a compilation of a knight's very intriguing adventure quests.
