I don't agree with that line of thinking Karz. By that same thinking we don't really know whether unicorns, fairies, cyclops or a whole host of other things are real. This is where religion receives special treatment in the marketplace of ideas. For reasons unknown to me, religion is not required to prove its existence before being discarded as false. Any other entity that could be claimed real is asked for verifiable evidence which religion does not present.

Well I'm agnostic about unicorns and fairies too. But just like gods, there is such a slim chance of them actually existing that I'm going to assume they don't.

I'm both an atheist and an agnostic. Like Karzkin pointed out at the end of Page 2 of this topic, I'm not sure if there is, or isn't, a god/goddess (or, for that matter, a bunch of them; after all, who's to say that the affairs of the world and its people are somehow being controlled by a lot of deities, and not just one?). Besides, I feel as though science could accept, with, of course, as with any other scientific theory/law, enough logic and evidence, the existence of a deity, and, as I have a strong belief in many of the major principles of science, I classify myself as an agnostic.
Furthermore, I am an atheist (why can't I spell that word right? I keep spelling it like athiest, when it happens to be that it's actually spelled atheist (which I keep misreading as at-heist. XD). Is this another exception to the darn "i before e, except after c" rule that has cost me so much in the past?). Personally, this is because my philosophy doesn't have any need for a religious system, especially one that revolves around a deity/deities, and, thus, I do not believe in one. Am I lacking in any respect, with respect to someone of religious inclinations, because of that, and why would I place my personal philosophy on an equal stage with any form of religious belief? For the record, I am not immoral. My parents have helped me establish a sense of right and wrong, and I have filled in any gaps with my own knowledge and understanding of the world. And, given my status as a moderator, they must've done something right. Furthermore, scientific theories and laws answer my questions, and also invite me to think about as-of-yet unanswered questions and potential solutions to them. Death and the concept of nonexistence do not faze me anymore. Overall, science and my own philosophy provides all of the comforts and much of the benefits that a religious system could give me. Thus, I do not believe in any religious system (besides, religious confuses me. However, I won't go into details on that topic; I've probably bored you (the reader) to death by now with my rambling and unnecessary side topics. I'll leave that topic for a future debate), and I also classify myself as an atheist.
Thus, I am an agnostic atheist. -

I'm completely an atheist. I don't believe in God or gods, I think when you die, nothing comes after, and I think psychics are really just people who get lucky. Except I don't believe in chance.

I believe that nothing is known, or anything beyond material phenomena.
